Luckily I didn't reply last night.
It was working, but then I started getting an error pushing the turd commits up to the remote. I had added a jar [not needed] that exceeded the limit. I fracked about and ended up just having to rollback the change and then re-commit and push without the file.
I've seen more stability walking home at 2am...

My first real programming job out of college was for the company I'm at now. I left for just over a year, and then came back.
The first "real" project I did here (in 2010), is what made them think of me as a programmer who could actually write software rather than a data processor who needed to write vba hacks. It was a website for account management to take bonus money and redeem it as gift cards, or varius other options. It just came up in a meeting today that they will no longer have a need for that "module" in their show this year.
That means I wrote a piece of software that worked as expected, and lived it's life without getting modified, until it was no longer needed for that particular problem. The fact that it never needed modified is exciting to me, but it also feels good to have a piece of software last and be no longer needed. It's like a feeling of closure.
The project that gave me developer status at this company is now being put to rest

I think I have written an awful lot of code that never needed modification.
Mind you I suspect that a massive amount of all the code I have ever written was never used at all: or indeed even executed once I'd finished testing it.

I've got class libraries and whatnot that never got modified. This was an entire application and was in production.

I once wrote an application with Photoshop - it never run and it never modified...

Code that never needs modified means it is never used.
Congrats though. It is a good feeling to have software you created keep on going without issues.

I learnt early on to be proud of what you do and create but not take it personally when a) it never gets used or b) it gets retired.
We are paid to create and deliver and, most of us, I'm sure, do our very best to deliver great software.
After that, I don't care what they do with it.

Back in the late 90's I wrote some parts of a banking system that remained untouched until the system was retired after some 10 years. It feels good to know you did it right first time.
Today I am in v.376 of trying to work out WTF I am doing.

I'm in version 45.1 of that. On a related note, I've also adopted the chrome and firefox nonsense version numbering system, works like a charm.

Yeah, It was. That project is really what transitioned me to developer in this company. I was hired as a programmer, but not really taken seriously as one until after this.
