Not sure what you mean with digits, but if you move one of the bars of the equal sign under the minus sign, you get 62=63-1.

Statements starting with the phrase 'I've been thinking' never ends in your favor... Specially when it's from your boss or your wife.

Boss is easy: I found that a thoughtful frown, a few minutes of obvious cogitation, and the phrase "Are you sure you want to do that?" discouraged them quite well. Particularly if the first time they say "yes" it accidentally turns into an unmitigated disaster...

Now do not forget that 63 = 62 : if a = 63 and b = 62,
a - b = 1
(a-b)*(a-b)=(a-b)
(a-b)*(a-b)-(a-b)=0
(a-b-1)*(a-b)=0
(a-b)=0
a=b, hence 63=62.
