Ribbon: Insert -> Symbol, then enter 0304 (COMBINING MACRON) in the character code box.
Essentially it is Excel's internal CharMap equivalent. For that matter, CharMap also works.

I'd say your keen mind, at maximum "thick," measures under 100 nanometers (that would be 1000 Angstroms) 
The "append horizontal bar super-scripted over the preceding character ... maybe" action, triggered by entering Alt-0772 is really an "edge case."
Some fonts, like Verdana, just don't support the higher Unicode functions, like this one. Others, that are not, in Windows, labeled "Unicode," like Arial, Segoe, etc., do.
I've observed that depending on the application, and its current font setting, having the numeric keypad activated (Num-Lock "on") may, or may not, be required to enter the super-scripted bar. In WordPad, the Num-Lock setting doesn't matter: it just works.
My daily work-horse text-editor will not support this no matter what language code-page, and font, I have selected as the default for the current edit windows: yet, it does support Unicode.
You may have noticed that in your browser (I'm using Chrome), trying to enter Alt-0772 when Num-Lock is "off" will attempt a page navigation (in Chrome it will trigger going to the home-page), and, when Num-Lock is "on," it's a no-op.
If you don't feel like firing up MS Word, you can use WordPad to easily get x-bar super-scripted characters. I am very surprised to hear you can't enter them into Excel !

If it had reacted quicker when it's systems went down a couple of years ago...and then it releases a phone it looks like nobody wants. 
This week, the company released a new version of its handset, the Z30, which was praised by observers but was nonetheless overshadowed by Apple's launch of its new smartphone products.
"It's not a bad phone," ... "I'm sure they'll sell at least one."
Ouch!

They did same as Microsoft, at-least Microsoft woke up from the deep sleep. Both the companies were dominating in the business phone space. And they did nothing and just watched Apple and Google grow from the ground up. And when they realized, they were almost out of the race.
Blackberry had decent hardware in the past, but the software was lacking in terms of UI/UX. And when they fixed the software part with Blackberry OS6, their hardware was lagging behind. And now when they are trying to play catch-up it's too late.
IMO, Blackberry Bold still looks way cooler than iPhone or Galaxy ### in the business meeting. 
I am still hoping for a miracle from them (just like Windows Phone), and I will still buy next-gen Blackberry Bold. (I need a phone with a damn keyboard! - I mean real keys)

I hate to say this, but...I wouldn't. What's the chances that the company will still exist in 6 months time? A year? You could well be throwing your money away on an expensive paper-weight. (Mind you, just suggesting that you shouldn't buy it probably reduces the chances that they will be there in a years time, so...)

My wife has just upgraded her iPhone and it instantly makes you realise how crap it was before. Now it looks a lot more like my Windows Phone. Apple are learning it seems..
