As I think I might have mentioned before, this week I have been tasked with adding some features and generally tidying up a label print app written in VB. I also might have mentioned before the following points
1.) I've not touched VB before(even in Uni),
2.) That the code is a mess and has had more hacks than Fleet Street.
3.) The Original Author chose not to comment any of the code.
Well it turns out I was wrong regarding point 3. I've just come across this single word comment before a particularly horrible piece of code.
'Sorry

That's not an apology.
Look further down, just after that piece of ordure - it continues:
...
This message is manufactured from fully recyclable noughts and ones. To recycle this message, please separate into two tidy piles, and take them to your nearest local recycling centre.
Please note that in some areas noughts are always replaced with zeros by law, and many facilities cannot recycle zeroes - in this case, please bury them in your back garden and water frequently.

I was going to say that the apostrophe looked more like it was standing in for "You'll be", rather than a rem marker.

Oh how I laughed when I found this:
"Tests are the real Cricket and I think we all new who was the superior team in the two most recent series between England and India, was it 7-1 aggregate? You don't get much more superior than that. So what if India are a better Baseball team."

Did I really spell 'new' like that!

Yeah I don't normally read all the comments on there, only the first page or so, but it does appear you get a surprisingly worldwide audience on there for an English Newspaper, most with the sole aim of baiting the English posters. Couldn't resist correcting that one.

I was working in Microsoft SQL Server Manager today.
I was creating a new stored procedure.
I cut pasted this:
SELECT * FROM tableName AS T1 ORDER BY T1.columnName DESC into the the stored procedure template that looks like this:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE PROCEDURE <Procedure_Name, sysname, ProcedureName>
<@Param1, sysname, @p1> <Datatype_For_Param1, , int> = <Default_Value_For_Param1, , 0>,
<@Param2, sysname, @p2> <Datatype_For_Param2, , int> = <Default_Value_For_Param2, , 0>
AS
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON;
SELECT <@Param1, sysname, @p1>, <@Param2, sysname, @p2>
END
GO
which created this:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE PROCEDURE <Procedure_Name, sysname, ProcedureName>
<@Param1, sysname, @p1> <Datatype_For_Param1, , int> = <Default_Value_For_Param1, , 0>,
<@Param2, sysname, @p2> <Datatype_For_Param2, , int> = <Default_Value_For_Param2, , 0>
AS
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON;
SELECT * FROM tableName AS T1 ORDER BY T1.columnName DESCEND
GO
It took me a moment to find the problem because I kept thinking 'DESCEND' was a keyword.

DESCENT - great game. Oh wait that was DESCEND.
You should learn to use the semicolon after your statements.
