The lucky one's were hit directly by the bomb. I don't know that I could keep myself sane for years underground, what if all those people were middle managers, telephone sanitisers and hairdressers?

Unless you and them have some very specific extreme and permanent psychosis then everyone will end up dead.
There could be variances there depending on what "big room" means. And if one then adds other conditionals that include a large variety of entertainment choices.
