Why is Ctrl + F4 close tab. Fat finger like me always hits that instead of proper refresh. Grrrr.......

Because they put the real Refresh on CTRL+ALT+DEL of course!

Um.
I think that kind of relationship with a cat of either gender would end in tears.

Not true.
I've found that when girls laugh, it makes their hips jiggle, and their knickers just fall off.

Hmm.. on my Keyboard the CTRL-keys are lower left and lower right positioned, whereas the function keys are above the alphanumeric block.
F5 is separated from F4, and 'refresh' usually works with F5 alone
|
|
|
|
|
Nope - there is a "super-refresh" which discards cached elements on CTRL-F5 on every browser I know.

Really ? Never heard of - if it's true, thanks for the info, if not, please let me know it was a joke, so I don't spread wrong knowledge.

It's true (despite being on the Wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache[^] - I don't think DD has edited that one...)

I don't know what wrong have I done to you. Why exactly are you asking me to download eclipse?

Oh, I get the joke, all right. I wish I didn't.
The worthy gentlemen who designed the eclipse shortcuts should be drugged, straightjacketed, and kept in secure rooms for the rest of their natural lives, so that their insanity can't harm any more people than it already has.

Have you thought of searching for "BrowserName keyboard shortcuts" to see if there is an alternate key sequence available?
For example in FireFox:
ctrl-R or F5 = refresh
ctrl-shift-R or ctrl-F5 = hard refresh
|
|
|
|
|
Yes, there are alternatives. It is just about getting used to them. I am so used to Ctrl + F5, it just happens unconsciously.

I understand. Old habits are hard to break.
In my case, ctrl-R has worked since Netscape, so it seems natural.
Even worse than browser shortcut habits are word processor shortcut habits. I still occasionally hit cntrl-Y (WordStar - delete line, or ctrl-U for Undo) into MSWord and then cuss ; a habit from ~30 years ago still creeps in once in a while.

It might be worth seeing if you can remap the close tab action to another key sequence. Some browsers are clever like that...

I am not sure what you are up to. I "heard" people moaning about imaginary things though.

In the Kingdom of Zombies the herd never thins, and apocalypse is continuous.
