Would you claim that my question was rude in any way?
And please read your rant again. Would you agree with me that it could be interpreted as being aggressive?

My rant was very aggressive.
But, it was aimed at a specific group of people. (ie, The people trolling me.)
So, unless you feel that you've earned that rant, and ARE one of those people, I fail to see the issue with it.
That aside, your initial post could be interpreted as being passive aggressive in nature, and that's worse than outright animosity. (ie, Do you feel that you're winning? Yeah, seems a bit passive aggressive to me.)
See, this goes both ways.

Agreed, you have been very aggressive through the whole thread.

That wasn't obvious.

Now you're really searching for excuses.

No, your post reeked of condescension, and seemed passive aggressive, if that wasn't your intention, fine.
But, do you see now how easy it is to misread someone, perhaps you should think about that, because, you're doing it to me, right now.
Quote: Agreed, you have been very aggressive through the whole thread.
Yes, when you troll people, they tend to get aggressive.
Get yourselves some pest killer, take care of your troll problem, and you won't need to worry about that anymore.

I guess you won't like the atmosphere here either. We can be quite serious and quite humorous at the same time. There's also a large contingent here who don't suffer fools. Quite frankly, I'm shocked that you haven't been voted out of existence based on your childish behavior in this post alone. The silliness of the Lounge denizens has been a fixture of the site for longer than you've been a member, so telling said denizens to shove off and take their banter elsewhere isn't going to make a difference. I, along with many others, come to this site for the combination of technical expertise and general goofiness of our fellow members. If that isn't the kind of community that you're looking for, you may want to keep looking (in order to keep yourself happier). If you're willing/eager to participate with the understanding that this is the kind of community you're part of, then be welcome.

Right, and that's fine, sometimes.
This is the problem, your childish nature, I love that stuff too, but, you REALLY need to know when, and how, and with whom it's okay.
Btw, I've made a few lounge post, and had perfectly serious conversations with none of this nonsense, we even GOT TO KNOW EACH OTHER, and THEN, made a few jokes, etc,. (That's the lounge I thought I was posting in, not this 12 year old troll factory.)
I might have been okay with a few jokes, had the topic actually gotten more serious responses, but, right off the bat, you were sh*ting on me, and my topic. (Frankly, it p*ssed me off, and I went into troll mode myself.)
I think you guys are misjudging me, and I can't possibly misjudge you, because you've presented nothing but false faces, I don't even know the real you. (Who was trolling, who was serious, I don't know, I don't you ppl well enough to tell the difference.)

You must be thinking of someone else. I didn't lock horns with you until you got nasty with folks having a little fun. There was, as far as I could tell, no ill will from anyone until you created it with your belligerent responses. Heck, if it weren't for that, I might not have become involved in the conversation at all, though Mick's joke about Americans might have drawn me in anyway. But I certainly wouldn't have engaged with you!
Getting p*ssed off because your rant didn't bring fellow ranters is quite childish (funny how all these things you accuse me of represent your own behavior, rather than mine). And it's no way to get to know people. As to knowing the "real me", I use my real name and I've tried today to talk you down from the acts of pure jackassery that you've been performing, without any appreciation for my efforts. Ah well, too much to expect from a troll, I guess.

But, trolling isn't nice...
It's like you walked up, smacked me in the face, and expect me to be f*cking gracious about it.

Exactly. So why have you been doing it?

Too bad you completely ignore the fact that I did no such thing, virtually or otherwise.

I think you need to reexamine the situation.
I wrote a serious post, posed serious question, and was seeking serious advice. (END OF STORY!)
If you want to claim that I'm a troll because I asked a TOUGH question, then, you're a moron.
I'm sorry, but sometimes you have to discuss tough issues, it happens, deal with it.
If my question seemed inflammatory to you, again, that's your fault, you're "projecting", I had no ill intentions, whatsoever. (Quite the opposite, actually, to me, it's a question of proper etiquette, and nothing more.)
|
|
|
|
|
Well, I'm not a moron. I did not claim you were a troll because of your question. I claimed you were a troll (a claim which you agreed with, thank you) because of your attitude toward the people who had a light-hearted attitude. Sometimes that happens, deal with it.
Again with the "projecting". In case I haven't said it before, let me be clear. I did not (and still do not) give a sh*t about your question. If you believe I did, you're mistaking me for someone else (or you yourself are a "moron" and are "projecting" that on me). If you expect to have everyone be serious just because you were, you're in the wrong place and going troll because folks don't want to be serious when you want them to is a breach of etiquette itself.
Now, I am an adult and as such have other and better things to do than continue with this discussion, as I'm nearly certain that you're only going to continue to whine about how mean I am and how horrible the other members of CP are for failing to put on straight faces at your whim. So, how about we call it a day? You go your way thinking I'm an a**hole and a moron and I'll go mine knowing that you're wrong. Cheers.

Are you sure that you guys understand the difference between grammar complaints, and my complaints which are completely different?
I don't care if you speak broken English, or perfect English, I do care, when you start attacking me, and harassing me, and making new accounts just to troll me, and down vote my account(questions\topics\etc), etc,.
Do try to keep up with the conversation.

Now, let me put this into perspective for you. (My perspective.)
----
Let's pretend to be a certain way towards a guy who DOESN'T know us at ALL.
And when he believes that our personalities are indeed what we present them to be, we'll all laugh.
Yeah, that's trolling 101, it was never funny, ever, it's always been stupid, and annoying.
And frankly, seeing as I don't know you, I have to assume that however you present yourself to me, is indeed your REAL personality.
This sort of trolling will never be funny to the person being trolled, EVER, because he believes you're an a**hole. (And, you've proven that assumption to quite correct, all of you, be ashamed.)
|
|
|
|

I think your perspective is valid.
However, you should also consider context and the context is The Lounge.
If you're new to this site then I must warn you this is where the trolls hang out.
|
|
|
|
|
I wasn't aware of that. (I knew it was sort of a "general" chat.)
Btw, I've had serious conversations in the lounge, it's true, look it up.
(They should definitely add troll warnings to the description, it said, come, relax, talk about what's on your mind, no one mentioned this cluster f*ck. Is that all part of the show?)

Yes, I did.
He's abrasive, he fails to read\understand topics, and makes ridiculous suggestions that generally have nothing to do with any sort of actual solution.
But, he had little to do with this topic, he's a minor fraction of the problem.
