Well it is always a known fact the more managed - unmanaged transitions you have, the slower the performance. The transition takes lot of CPU cycles whether is pInvoke or IJW or COM Interop.

Super Lloyd wrote: In Sample1 I update 10.000 points in C#. It used to be a C++/CX IList/IVector.
Now I'm doing it in C# with pointers.
Updating 10K points in C# through C++/Cx took about 20.000 ticks
Updating it through pure C# (and pointers ) only took about 3.000 ticks.
Further tweaks were caching the pointer value (there was a method call to get the pointer) and avoid some casting reduced the time to 1.300 ticks.
Hi Super LLoyd,
Assuming no structural problems in your code doing this either way: I'm curious what inference you might make from this observation: better to code in C# and use pointers ?
thanks, Bill

The lesson learn is reduce the use of interop to a minimum. Make it coarse if possible.
Consequently I rewrote all the math code I had in http://directwinrt.codeplex.com[^] in C#

Well, it is pretty great. Pretty much as good as Google - I don't see any difference these days.

Did Bing ever found anything???

I know, I know, mathematically BING found nothing. (BING!, sounds like a kitchen timer bell.)

That's a good thing! Google doesn't really know either.
No drunken college days photos, no embarrassing mugshots, no forlorn rants about lost loves or sporting events gone awry.
My web presence consists of Code Project, Stinked Linked In and some assorted postings here and there from years ago. Headhunter lists and addresses of places I lived more than 20 years ago.
Oh and the ancient VB6 petition that refuses to go away. (That's my embarrassing web history...)
It was broke, so I fixed it.

They are both ignorant!
Well the thing you discussed here is not really this topics point so I will not go further debating on it. Each one of us has his own reasons of giving himself a certain visibility.
It was all about making a couple of jokes about Bing....

Dogpile is the first result. That's what I thought, though MS must be wary of anti-trust suits by now.

You've missed the point.
Put "search engines" into bing and bing is the 4th, below the related searches. I've never used dogpile, could be the best search aggregation site in the world for all I know. It doesn't stop bing's results from being a dogpile.

The irony is that in this case Bing is right, Dogpile is where it belongs and you probably wouldn't get that, even on Dogpile

What are you expecting to see at the top of the results?
Put "search engines" into Google[^] and Dogpile is number 3 behind 2 Wikipedia articles. Bing doesn't even show up in the first few pages, and neither does Google.
This seems like you're just looking for a reason to bash M$, unfortunately this doesn't appear to be a very good reason...

He did not say "it's a great search engine".
I'm not exactly happy with google search either, and i often do wonder how over the years we've learnt to use search terms that work well wiht google.

That's also true.
There was nothing else then google for a long time so we adapted and started thinking in google's way!
