Eh, don't worry about it. Once it can no longer support us we'll probably have a resource war that will reduce the surplus population to manageable numbers.
This view may be getting skewed by my recent reading of The Mote in God's Eye... To steal a quote from it's wiki page:
Crazy Eddie
This is a translation of the term the Moties use for any exercise in futility, or any attempt to do, or even think about doing, anything to try to stop the inevitable collapse of their current civilization which is war driven by overpopulation.

I need (OK really want) to move 125 Contacts and 25 SMS's from my old phone to my new.
I currently have a Samsung HD Icon (i8910) that runs Symbian and backups go to a .NBU (Nokia Back Up) file.
The new phone is the Samsung Galaxy SII (i9100) that runs Android 2.3 and backups go to a .SBU (Samsung Back Up) file.
The SII software (Samsung Kies) won't read the .NBU file nor will it recognise the i8910 to allow me to backup to the .SBU format. So I found NbuExplorer[^] that allowed me to export the Contacts to .VCF files and the SMS's to .VMG files.
Using Samsung Kies I have been able to import the Contacts one at a time but when I try to import the SMS's it doesn't like the .VMG files and wants to read .SME files.
Anyone know how I can get these f***ing SMS's across to the new phone? I have seen mentions of using Bluetooth to get them across, but I don't want open up for in-bound Bluetooth coectivity, cause I'll probably end up leaving it on and f*** myself over.

Not really, on Android it only stays 'visible' for 60 seconds or so.

Install the Bump application on both phones and bump them over. Not sure if you'd have to bump and grind them 125 times.

Try moving the SMSes from phone memory to SIM card and then form SIM to phone on the other one...
For the contacts - I always send all contacts via BT to my laptop and then from laptop to new phone.

This sounds like the best idea, will try this later this morning when I get into work.

The formats the 2 phones use are different and it seems incompatible.

to my knowledge(hence possibly wrong..) the bluetooth discovery only works for a couple of minutes. it will stay connected to a particular device once it is set up, but will not stay in open discovery mode permanently.
Let's face it, after Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!

I just have the carrier move them over when I get a new phone. They do it for free when you get a new phone. Otherwise they charge a small fee ($10-$15).

Depends on the carrier I suppose, mine did it for free when I moved to a hand-me-down phone when the last one broke.

Here's what I did:
Used the Nokia PC Suite (or Ovi Suite) to save the contacts to CSV then upload to contacts in gmail and then sync the S2. I did this for my Nokia E71x and outlook express address books from my work, home and laptop. Used merge duplicates to take care of the extra entries.

I second that... just awesome!!!

For the scene with the glass, ball, pot, and some other things I could easily tell which one was real, but it's still very awesome.

Because you knew. If nobody had told you some of the objects were faked, you would not have imagined that only parts of the scene could be "rebuilt".

Quite impressive and, I imagine, a very difficult thing to achieve.
Getting a light source would be simple enough, but to allow for movement, depth, intensity, colour, etc is a lot more complex than my mind can encompass at 11.40 on a monday morning!

Very interesting.
The Photoshop community has been playing with 3rd party software and plug-ins for years now. The newer stuff can do some outlandish crap in the hands of a skilled editor.
Just along for the ride.

Perhaps, but they'd have to convincingly fake chromatic aberration and other optical effects.
I'm not saying they won't succeed, but it may take a few more years..
