Same thing happened to me when I had dragon age origins.
At 9 pm to 10pm it installed.
Then I started learn magic. Then got the job with a king.
And I continued to play the game then I heard an alarm clock.
I paused the game and check the time it was 6 am morning.
Thanks to hostel life I had breakfast at 8 am then I slept until lunch.

Civilization II and Civilization Revolution still steals a lot of time from me. No wonder my wife frowns when I mention wanting Civ 5, heh.
Lately, most of my time has been sucked away by Test Drive Unlimited 2. Despite the many remaining flaws in the game, the simple joy of driving all over Ibiza and Hawaii in an open-frame dune buggy is very addicting...

civ has been that addictive since version 2, haven't tried 5 yet, but I reckon the average game in 4 is between 40 and 80 hours.
I also loved the Sid Meier game he made when he moved on from Civ - Alpha Centauri = Civ in space!

That's nothing, I used to play Far Cry for 16 hours, start at Saturday 8pm, end at Sunday 10am.

I know that feeling. I already spent way too much time on Civ I, in spite of it's clunky graphics. But then the game never was about graphics. When I got bored of the original I modified the rules file (back then an ascii text file) to introduce new kinds of troops such as hot-air balloons serving as airborne scouts at an early age, land-based transporter units, or immobile defense units.
Test of Time was the worst timesink of the series though, specifically the fantasy setting with three layers: Utgard, Midgard, and Asgard. The 3rd dimension added so many tactical complications, a turn took me much longer than normal to complete, just to check all the possibilities!

When I remember that Skyrim is coming in November... it will be month(s) of little sleep, cranky mornings and questionable code acrobatics .
And Witcher 2 struck me in May, this will be year to remember.

I usually go to bed by 3am, but my clock rings at 5:30 or 6:15; thanks to God I usually have at least 20min of sleep on train.

Heh, I remember once we were playing HOMM III with my brother (Hot-seat mode) and he almost missed his flight to France.
Ah, the good old days, when I started Civ I at 10 am and reached Alpha Centauri by 9pm the same day...
Nowadays though I prefer joining my daughter playing with lego whenever I have the chance.

Prior to the lightning strike that happened a few nights ago at my place, my setup looked like:
--------- ---------- ------------
Internet ---> | DSL | ---> | Router | ---> | Computer |
| Modem | ---------- ------------
--------- | -----------
|---------> | Printer |
----------- The modem (Siemens, I think) was supplied by AT&T; the router is a Netgear WGR614v10. The modem died so I replaced it with a Netgear DM111PSPv2. Connecting the computer directly to the modem works fine. Connecting it like the above diagram, however, results in the router not being able to see the modem, thus no Internet. I think it has to do with IP addresses (static vs. DHCP) but am not sure how to get them all to play nicely together. The modem is currently configured to get its IP address from my ISP. Its DHCP service is turned on (even though only one device can connect to it) to hand out IP addresses in the range 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254. The router's IP address is set to 192.168.0.2. Its DHCP service is turned on to hand out IP addresses in the range 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.7 (computer, laptop, and a few smartphones). I've changed these around just a bit but can't find the combination that lets the router see the modem. Any ideas?
Thank you.

You may want to verify that the router itself isn't fried as well. Just plug two different computers into the router with no modem attached and see if the router assigns IPs to both computers and that the two computers can talk to each other. If the router itself is ok, then I couldn't help you more because I tend to use Linksys/Cisco stuff at home for that.

Leave the WAN side of the modem to DHCP its address from the ISP.
Change the LAN side of the modem to static 192.168.0.1, depending on the router, you could give it a static on 192.168.0.2
Change the router to provide DHCP scope 192.168.0.3 -> 192.168.0.255
All should have the subnet 255.255.255.0.
Job done. (that's the configuration, i would try first )

Please test that the router is not also dead by linking printer and computer via router.
If it works create a LAN. Connect modem to router and gateway IP to be router.
Modem is automatically assigned DHCP from ISP.
I only read newbie introductory dummy books.

David, what you have bought is actually a modem/router, so you need to put it into Bridged mode, so you can connect it to the other router. If the new kit has more than one Ethernet port I would use as the only bit of network kit.
Failing that, look at the following links.

I did not know that (not on the packaging anywhere), nor do I know what bridging means.

It does not, only one.

I'm only going on the Netgear pages I looked at that tell me that it is a Modem/Router, they could be lying to me, or I could have searched for the wrong item.
As for the Bridging, the links I put at the bottom of my previous post explain how to do it.

It took a few minutes but I finally got the modem in full-bridge mode. I had a hard time finding it because it is not referred to as bridging in the docs. They call it either modem or modem+router. With that, the WRG router may be bad. It lights up and I can acess it via IE but it makes no attempt to connect to the modem. I'll try swapping it out tonight with a new one to rule out that variable.
Thanks.

It's been a while since I've done this (been buying modem+router+4 port built-in-switch), but memory tells me that the router will just connect to the modem and use it as a connection to the ADSL, but the router has to have all the account and password information to be passed through to the ISP servers, not on the new modem.
The other thing that comes to mind is, if the new modem+router has wireless and all the other things you need but is limited to 1 ethernet port, get a 8 port gigabit switch, you can get a name brand over hee for ~AUD$50.00 and the US have things even cheaper. I'd be tempted to get one of those and get things working, especially if the old router is cactus.
If the router is required, access it's setup from IE and check that you have all your connectivity details for ADSL in it and it should just connect through the modem and all will be good.

Does the router show the WAN port as being up? If not could just be a boot order issue.
Unplug the router
Unplug the modem
Wait err 30 seconds
Plug in modem
Wait until the modem is up and online
Plug in the router, should come up and get an IP now
At least that's what I have to do with my Motorola modem and every router I've ever connected to it (well the new Cisco router is more complicated than that of course)

I use a neat software package by Cisco called "Network Magic" which keeps me immune from all this playing about which I never understand anyway. I've RARELY had to do the unplug/count to 30/plug back in thang.
I also have the router and modem sitting on one of those laptop cooling fans (the ones designed to stop laptops overheating) which keeps them cool (I have another under my tv cable box)
