Second thought - naa he has guns
I have come to the consultation that you get one votes from some people for posting.
Personally I missed out on all the five voting going on a couple of weeks ago.

Actually, in the thread where I got 1-bombed, I was being much less confrontational than usual. I even got 1-voted ona post where I posted a smilie.

Sorry to hit on a depressed person, but it's much worse if you consider the man points you lost with this post!

It's got until 2014 (I think April) before it falls out of support so I expect it to be around for some time yet.

My last PC purchase came with a downgrade license to XP (bought it last fall or winter) and I could of swore I read somewhere that my XP license was good until 2020 before I would be forced to use the Windows 7 OS disk that also came with it.

Dan's is a reasonable suggestion, although why they would allow a downgrade after support has ceased beats me.

The same reason they don't make unsupported software go poof. You're a loon if you have it on the internet; but for disconnected boxes (especially the embedded sort) it's not an immediate crisis.

I'd guess that's when they turn off the downgrade validation check server; support ends in 2014.

So this means that Microsoft did either a really good job with XP or a really bad job with what came after.... Personally, I hated Vista but now actually like win7... So I'm slowly changing over...

My XP install at home has been getting increasingly unstable. I've had more blue screens this summer than in an comparable period of time. I've concluded that driver writers, especially NVidia and AMD are concentrating on Windows 7 64-bit drivers on multi-core CPUs.
(By contrast, both my daughters' laptops running Windows 7 64 are rock solid stable as it my work system.)
