Did it have a problem? I briefly saw a few adds, then Adblock plus got tuned to them...
Not that I would use such a thing, Mr Maunder sir, no sir, not me. Honest1

Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

I love Wikipedia and use it all the time but sometimes they irritate the hell out of me and this time of year is no exception. Thing is, the spokesperson is a programmer.

Code Project's ads irritate me, but they've got to run somehow. I'm glad Wikipedia didn't go this route.

Good to see a programmer embracing extroversion.

The first time I saw that kick starter thing was here. I almost donated, except they wanted me to create an account, and I was too lazy to proceed.

That Brandon is a tad on the melodramatic side, mmm? He works next to Sally Struthers, a noted PHP programmer herself.

Isn't that because everybody else provides the actual content for free already, as well as moderating what goes in and formatting it all?

Wikimedia actually has a bunch of staff. I actually used to work with one of the guys on that list. The people who donate their time for free are a huge help, but there still need to be a few key players to help guide the organization. For example, the developers innovate so that Wikimedia does not stagnate (e.g., to enhance the technology to match what others are offering). And management is especially important. There has to be somebody who says "this is what Wikipedia is supposed to look like and here's how we get there." Not to mention people who need to handle the finances, such as donations and how to apply them (servers and bandwidth aren't free). Wikipedia wouldn't be the preeminent source of online encyclopedic knowledge without the core Wikipedia team, nor would it be without all the contributors who work for free.

And this is why I still donate every year. They annoy the sh*t out of me with this money drive thing they do but I always give, every year, because they are awesome and they provide a free, valuable service.

Hmm, maybe, if I get sick of New York.
Seriously, though... Detroit? I think maybe that list is by NUMBER of available jobs, instead of QUALITY.

There are plenty of jobs in detroit - as long as you don't have a problem occasionally asking people to lift their feet while so you can sweep under them...

What’s wrong with Edison? Just a boring sleepy little town 15 minutes from where I live.

Well what I mean is I did not make a typo, the guys who made that list may have though. I just don't want to be held responsible for mentioning Detroit there.

So are all these open jobs decent jobs or are they just crappy contract jobs, working for a company featured on Daily WTF?
