oh good lord, I'll mail you some from Memphis then. We have had more than enough.

I was thinking it would be a good idea to send tanker trucks out there, scoop up some water, and brink it back here. I know it wouldn't actually help the flood zones, but it would certainly help Texas.

I have often had the impractical (impossible) thought that there needs to be a pipeline throughout the country to spread the water where needed.

personally I'm not heavily effected, other than ruining my plans to go to Tunica casino's for our 18 year anniversary...
I live about an hour east of the river and my house is high ground, IT would take a flood of biblical proportions to flood me out. The smaller rivers in the area are backed up to just under bridge decks, but again, its just in check for the moment and looks to be reversing the rise and dropping slowly now.
However the city of Memphis proper most certainly has issues with a few hundred people currently homeless. Stretch that down to Tunica Cuttoff and other areas I think the number would run somewhere in the thousands camping out at shelters, family and friends due to their houses being reduced to a roof sticking out of the water.

We just need to hope there aren't any massive rainstorms in the lower Mississippi valley for the next few weeks; they really pushed 1927 from bad to catastrophic.

Brazos county is in our worst drought since like 1895. We really need more than a light sprinkling. Come on rain!

Please be kind enough to send some of it to us in Houston today! We also have been "precipitation challenged" of late, and yesterday only got 0.1 inches. We could use about 10 more (not all at once though!)

Unfortunately that's the way it works in Houston. Random 1 mile square areas get 10 inches of rain while everywhere else is just $#$#@ hot and humid.

It seems that I can no longer use windows search to find files containing specific text in Win7! I have changed the advanced search settings and tried the contents: flag to no avail. Even XP did not find any results! I finally had to boot up the old 2000 box to find what I was looking for. In case it matters, the files in question are on mapped drives. Of course, I could just roll my own...hmmmm

Well, did it ever?
To be fair, with index enabled it's actually decent most of the time.

It sucks. So bad, I hate it. XP is way better in so many ways.
But, aparently, you just type in the box *.inf "mytext" and it searches inside the .inf files for that text. Intuitive eh? Yeah, not freaking likely.

I've been able to see that after a while with the indexing enabled it mostly works...
If you've just enabled indexing or it has still not finished... then use external tools...

The "Windows Search" came installed on my recently purchased PC and needless to say, I couldn't find anything using it (yes, I had indexing enabled, BTW). After I uninstalled it and reverted back to the original search mechanism on XP (Yes, I utilized my downgrade right from Windows 7 to Windows XP) I can find things again.
Just an FYI

Yeah it used to work for me in Windows 2000. It got broken in XP but from memory there were some registry settings somewhere that could be changed to make it work again. I'm not sure if those registry settings are still there in Vista / 7 though.
I typically use the find in files feature of visual studio most of the time, that usually finds what I'm looking for if the settings are correct. The search built into Windows is more optimized for searching certain types of indexable content like Outlook email, OneNote notebooks, Word documents etc and I don't think it bothers to search binary files at all. Even with the types it does support it doesn't work for me a lot of the time or finds multiple results of the same file (usually due to it getting confused by junction points etc).

One of the biggest problems with Windows is that tools like that, or that are not a core part of the operating system (e.g. media flayer) are generally either poorly implemented or bloated and s...l...o...w.
You're better off installing a little, streamlined third-party app (or using something like Xplorer2, which is the knees of the bee).
