Once in a very long while you encounter a recruiter who goes out of his way.
Last week I got an email from a recruiter/headhunter/whatever who asked if I had C# experience.
I replied that I've been doing C# exclusively for the past five years.
He responded that my online résumé (on Dice) didn't reflect it. (It didn't, though it was listed as a skill on my profile. I have since updated it.)
I was astounded! Since when do recruiters go out of their way to ask for clarification?
That was last Wednesday (as I recall). They got me an interview this past Monday. The interview lasted about twenty minutes. An offer was in my inbox by the time I got home.
(Meanwhile, all the other recruiters I hear from have only ASP.net leads. )
As to build engineers -- I suspect that were I building a suite of .net applications of significant size (especially where a large number of developers is involved) I'd use MSbuild directly rather than do it inside Visual Studio. Yesterday's build engineers learned a lot about the problems that can occur and VS can only automate so much of that knowledge. (I don't know anything about Cruise Control. And I doubt L. Ron Hubbard does either.)

Cruise Control is PDG. Try it. After I used it once where it was set up well I tell everyone to use it. Few do but it is worth the time. (And it saves you from hiring a build engineer for 6 months)
With respect to online resumes through Dice and such ... I just stopped doing them. I never had one positive lead turn up; I'm glad someone gets success. Half of my work now is direct because recruiters and "consulting" companies have no interest in doing their job.

I'm getting a sense of deja vu...
What an extraordinarily brilliant invention that is. And not in the slightest a complete waste of everybody's valuable time, oh no.
Not for them placing external drives out of the way, propping them up something (anything!) or taking the precautionary step of not spilling drinks near them... nope! For them the only answer was to fit robotic legs and a moisture sensor, the combination of which seems more than capable of walking said external drive off the nearest high surface.

We took FIL to see the consultant at C&W today. He confirmed that FIL has oesophagal cancer [SCC - if anyone knows these things] and that there are secondary lymph tumors in the abdominal cavity.
He believes that the secondary infection is the same [SCC] as the oesophagus rather than one of the more virilant lymphatic varieties. So some good news, he's in sh*t but at least they haven't stolen the canoe.
Next up, our consultant won't be treating him. He's been transfered to the Royal Marsden under the care of their top oncologist. So we get the best doctor in the best hospital.
Thought the outlook is pretty shyte - 10%-20% 5 year survival - we at least have some hope. For those that read last nights missive vis-á-vis COD Tea, the consultant today said it's cakola

It's good news on the oncologist front. Let's keep hoping that things carry on well for FIL.

Sad news to hear of the FIL's illness . I am working with a Design Engineer who was given the same diagnosis about eighteen months ago. The treatment has knocked him around a bit but he is still at work everydsy and seems to be responding well.
As an aside, My wife recently found out that she has a Hiatus Hernia (rather common) and it turns out that this can be a cause of oesophagus cancer.

The inventor deserves some kind of prize - would the Nobel Peace Prize be out of the question? - and then to be roundly booed, just shortly before it's taken from him and somebody thumps him.

and yet, he will probably sell loads of them and make lots of $$$ - hopefully for his childs pre-school education fund

Hopefully, children will be able to use this as evidence in court, when they are old enough to divorce their parents. Aged three, say.

...I've got a bridge I think they may be interested in.
I've just watched an ex-demo kitchen fryer sell for £39.00 + £6.99 P&p. Not a problem, I bid on it up to £10.
Only trouble is, you can buy it new from Amazon for £23.99 inc VAT and delivery...
Anyone know how I can contact these mugs people? I'll cut you in for 10% of the profits...

I haven't shopped on Ebay since, I think, 1998. Problem is people started selling merchandise instead of offering items for auction. When the reserve is set at retail what is the point?

I've managed to pick up a couple of reasonable guitars on ebay for people in the past few years. I have bid on some vintage guitars, but ended out bailing when the money got beyond the point where I could buy one at the guitar shows.

I was looking at a few Blu-rays and I can get them cheaper (sometimes much cheaper!) on Play.com, the Hut etc.
If there was more money in it I'd set up a shop on ebay.
