Cool stuff. But do we really need another database platform http://apirocks.com/html5/html5.html#slide8[^]

Apple is ahead the times by not allowing Flash

Mark Nischalke wrote: But do we really need another database platform
Why not? I already use database based local storage in some of my web applications. It is very convenient to data on the client machine.
BTW: GMail, GContacts etc already do that of Safari/Chrome.
Also, it is based on SQLite on WebKit based browsers. I guess if IE9 implements it, it will be based on SQL Server Compact.

No, if IE10 implements it, I'm sure there will yet *another* SQL Server version, something like SQL Server Micro, or SQL Server Really Small, or maybe SQL Server Liteweight, or even SQL Server Compact Web Express.

Then the emails will start to pour in.
"SQL Server micro" enhancement pills. Is your SQL Server database too small? Just take this one pill every day for the rest of your life and you too can have a big SQL! Ladies love the BIG SQL!

Yes, and then protection against SQL injection attacks!

Probably not: especially cross browser layout!

Well in which case they can f off and stop wasting my valuable time.

I hope so!!

we're waiting for you to write the layout manager

Well good luck waiting on that one, sunshine, I've several knitting needles I need to insert to my leg first. Besides which I fail to see why, given that there are many, many layout managers available, I have to do the job for them and properly!

I tried to view it in the latest Chrome version and doesn't work at all. What am I missing?

Works for me in Chrome, unless I'm not on the latest version and they broke something.

Doesn't work for me either, but they are backwards here and still use IE6.

Superb. Thanks for the link.

Unfortunately every time I press the right arrow key to go to the next slide it adds another address to my history. So while you haven't really changed page if you try to click back to resume your normal browsing you will be sadly disappointed. This kind of thing just really irritates me.

I wish I had and I created that presentation.
|
|
|
|

Does someone want to explain this to me; because I am missing it.
Why, if this is an HTML5 presentation, is it mostly webkit hacks?
|
|
|
|
|
I guess it is because only webkit implements most of the HTML5 features as of now.

"this website is asking to store data on your computer for offline use"
why is that?
this feature might me exploited for some malicious attacks..

|

It starts wrong right of the bat (no pun intended).. the damn thing wants to store something locally, which my settings told me right away.. it might explain why it didn't work for me, but if yet another presentation wants to dump sheeet in my computer that cannot be a good sign..
