That is a good one. Some folks down the street from me have one of those

Holy crap?!
My wrath would no bounds if that were to happen to me! I think I'd be arrested for pummeling the guy to like a side of beef!

I don't think it is Newegg's fault then. They do give you a choice of shipping method. You just made a bad choice.
AIT, I agree.

I would say it has nothing to do with NewEgg and nothing to do with the delivery service. It was entirely on the guy who pushed him. Perhaps he could pin it on AIT for hiring such a tosser.

Yes, I agree with you.
But Ennis Ray Lynch boycott list is very strict. If Ennis falls down by slipping in a subway in a Walmart, he will boycott both Walmart and Subway.

Sounds like he's a glutton for punishment. Why else would he discontinue use of NewEgg's excellent service for something an employee of another company did? Perhaps he should just choose a different shipping service next time.

Is this a joke?
"Never again. In the future I will just answer the door with a gun in my hand."
Good grief - where do you live?

The USA, where it's our given right by the 2nd Ammendment. Moreover, he's in Florida which has the Castle doctrine that gives him the legal right to use deadly force on anyone on his property that he feels is threatening him or his family.
Don't blame me. I voted for Chuck Norris.

Good Grief!
If I lived somewhere that I felt I needed a gun to answer the door I'd move. Quickly!
(BTW I live in Texas...)

You don't need guns in Texas. Haven't you heard, Texas is the friendly state. As you cross over the Texas border (except from Mexico) you are greeted by a sign that says "Welcome to Texas, the friendly state." Followed closely by another sign that says "Don't mess with Texas". We have a sense of humor.
Don't blame me. I voted for Chuck Norris.

Me too. I have guns, but I don't answer the door with them.

Despite all the bashing, I think that makes a whole lot more sense than being sued by a burglar because you "severely maimed" (a couple of bruises) him when you kicked him out of your house.. as is common in the EU. And the burglar would win.

Which is what justice is about. Everything else would not be very...just. Every individual by their birth have been given the same rights...same justice for everyone. Someone committing a crime does not allow someone else to commit a crime against them or another. Doing so would be self-administered justice and at least in the EU, justice is subject to a law court and not to some random people.
As for the burglar, just because he sued you for kicking him out, doesn't mean he doesn't get sued for burglary.
harold aptroot wrote: And the burglar would win.
If he was the victim of your violence then yes - which would be just. If you bruised him in defense then he would not.

Jörg

Yes, that is current situation. But I do not agree that it is just. This whole "you are born with rights" thing is just unnatural - someone just made it up someday. Calling them privileges would be more realistic - and of course that burglar has just wasted some of his privileges by being a burglar and doesn't even deserve the air he/she breathes anymore.

Yes, that's true...and it is a good one.
In my understanding 'just' in the connotation of 'equal' means 'same' and treating all people the same way.
harold aptroot wrote: and of course that burglar has just wasted some of his privileges by being a burglar
This is a very subjective point of view - and an opinion and many people might have the same opinion. But opinions are not justice.
But opinions and justice are not necessarily the same.

Jörg

Fair enough, but then "justice" was defined after someone's opinion as well, so yea..
|
|
|
|

No, not really.
If you get attacked, you can press charges against them.
If you attack them, they can press charges against you.
But then again I guess you're right. I guess there is a difference between 'justice' and 'justice as defined by law'...

Jörg

[generally spoken]
That means in your country/state you have a given right, on your property, to use deadly force on anyone you got the feel is a threat?
What about the given right to live? And what about, not that it would matter to the dead guy, if 'they' were shot "by accident" - if it turned out 'they' were not a threat?

Jörg

Did anything come of the discussion with the Sheriff's department, or was that a formality so you had it filed that he had assaulted you?
I've only recently bought stuff from Newegg and aside from choosing the cheap option of UPS for shipping (dump on doorstep with scuffed boxes) I didn't really have an issue. I did email them to ask why their website let me put through an order on the preferred account to ship to my work address but this wasn't permitted so the order was cancelled, they never replied.
I probably wouldn't blame NewEgg in all this. But I do think their customer service could have at least sent you a formal apology and put forward the facts to the delivery company themselves. I'm pretty sure they hold more weight with them than you as an individual.

Keep delivering stuff to Chuck Norris until that delivery guy eventually slips up again.

Businesses have [paper] forms. From invoices and receipts to bureaucratic paper work and I'm wondering what the software used for designing or building said forms is called.
Would you know of software that does that? And incorporates it into an enterprise DMS/Workflow management system? And puts a cherry on top? not too expensive?
