Something I'm very proud of. It's not often you can put a tinfoil hat on a router. But mostly, I enabled the security stuff that was in the web interface. Now, if there was a way to stop the cats chewing the antenna...electric current it is

You wont believe how many people leave it like that.
At least in my neighborhood I made everyone put a WEP key and change the default password of their wireless routers. Thankfully, everyone got scared and did it when I explained to them that someone may do illegal things using their network if they leave it like that.

I was just looking up 'collapsible' on the Free Oxford Dictionary Online.
I noticed at the bottom:
— ORIGIN Latin collabi, from labi ‘to slip’.
Now I know the origin of the expression 'to slip a.........'

The vid search is nice, but it needs a volume control. They're way loud on my weven box.

Yes, but unless I recognize the scene, how do I know where it is?
And how do I turn it off? What if I use a dial-up connection and don't want to download it?

If you are using dial-up then I can be pretty sure you ain't gonna know what Bing is.

Contrarywise, I have a cable Internet connection. But it could drop, in which case I may need to use dial-up.

They have treatment centers for that.

But searching for what I want to find can't be done there.

When Bing first came out, like a lot of people I had a look. It was only when people here started wittering on about the scene-of-the-day stuff, that I was aware that there was such a thing. You see I was running NoScript and had to specifically allow Bing before I could see the scenes. So that is at least one way to turn them off.
Of course, the scripts might still be downloaded, just not allowed to run. I don't know.

Aha! Very good, thanks. What other undocumented features are there? How can I add that to the search setting in Internet Options?

Oh, yeah, I did that for Bing yesterday, but had forgotten that they have the "Create your own" feature, I used "http://www.bing.com/search?q=TEST&form=QBLH?rb=0" as the URL.
Thanks again.

i hate their "search overload" commercial. it's annoying enough to make me actively dislike Bing.

My previous firewall died today, after years of serving honorably. Services will be held this afternoon near the trash can that will be its final resting place.
In setting up the new one, I thought I'd look into firewall settings in more detail to lock it down more than the default but (hopefully) without shooting myself in the foot in terms of day to day software hassles from over protection.
Anyone know of good online reading for basic firewall port configuration for those of use who aren't network engineers? I don't want to make a career of this, but I suspect there are some common sense Dos and Don'ts.
