No! That is the approximation of Pi day...
But neither 14/3 is the proper Pi day... we need a 3/14 which does not exists as much as I know (no calendar that I know off has more than 13 months)

In the US 3/14 is March 14. Our date order is Month/Day[/Year]

The Mayan calendar had 18 months of 20 days each, plus 5 days tacked on at the end.

In the weird USA we write the month first. So today is 3/14 locally!

22/7 at 11:33:55 gives two approximations to Pi.
22/7 = π to 3 decimal places
355/113 = π to 7 decimal places

My wife made four pies for me to bring to work today. Of course, they're all square because pi are square.

The one I learned was:
Now I, even I, would celebrate
In rhymes unapt the great
Immortal Syracusan, rivaled nevermore,
Who in his wond'rous lore,
Passed on before,
Left men his guidance
How to circles mensurate.
3.141592653689793238462643383279
Of course, I've never had a need for more than 3.142 in any practical calculation!

π is 3 to me, likewise g is 10 .

If you're working out how much of something is needed to cover a cylinder, for example, Pi needs to be bigger than 3.
But I did research in Nuclear Physics, and I'd still agree that for a quick calculation 3 for Pi, 10 for g is good enough for a quick mental calculation or using a slide rule (I still have mine).
Of course, these days, people just plug the numbers into an app on their phone...

Hi all,
I really like the clicky-part of mechanical keyboards, but they don't come in ergonomic styles, do they? If yes, please recommend!
Even the DAS keyboards are just rectangle planks with keys - which are a pain for my wrists if I use them over 4hrs/day.
I now use the Microsoft Natural Ergo 4000, but don't particularly like the switches.
any ideas?

Been using a Kinesis Advantage 2 for several years (spendy). I like it. More importantly, my arthritic hands like it. I tried an ErgoDox EZ, couldn't get used to it. If you want to get overwhelmed, try ergonomic keyboards on reddit.

Every once in awhile you come across a little piece of software that is as simple as it needs to be and no simpler - something as unobtrusive as it is valuable that makes you ask how you got by without it.
Termite: a simple RS232 terminal[^]
I've used PuTTY. I've used Telix. I've used all kinds of terminal software, and for my money is easily the best one out there, precisely because it doesn't do much.
It's an installess executable so it's an easy tool to work with in the field when you have to pop a serial probe on a board or something and you're using someone else's lappy.
It's reliable as all heck, which is gold when you're using it to debug other things. You don't have to second guess anything. It doesn't reformat your serial data or anything high level. If it can't read your COM port, it's a hardware issue.
To err is human. Fortune favors the monsters.
