I'd go back and do a Wally (Dilbert) while I looked for another job. If you read the actual notice that went out last Thursday it says you're still employed by Twitter until Feb 2, 2023 but will be locked out. This is to comply with the US WARN Act. Failure to return to work is abandonment of your job for which you can be fired with no pay. The best option in this case if you don't already have another job lined up is to go back, do the absolute minimum to avoid being fired, and then quit when you find another job.

True story: My employer laid off a certain employee once. A few months later I saw him back in the building.
"Hey Randy, I didn't know you were back!" I said.
"Yeah, they decided they needed me after all." he replied.
"Oh, I bet that was fun."
"Let's put is this way." he replied; "Have you ever seen the movie Deliverance?"

Yikes. Depends which end you're on, I guess.

Despite your protestations… you obviously have a dog in this fight. Just own it.

What protestations?
I do have a dog in this fight, as I said. I want the social media companies to fail, and so I fully support what Elon is doing to that company.

I have just comeback to Code Project after 4 long years.
Good to see some of the Old Members still very active Like OG and Chris Maunder.
Hope Some know who I meant by SA(if I recall correctly he had a underscore after SA_ on Signature.)

The second person down on Who's Who? (There isn't an underscore, so maybe not?)

I would hope that Chris is still active on CP.
Maybe in the background, toiling away, but I'm sure Chris still has CP very much on his mind on a day-to-day basis. As a matter of fact it'll be a sad day when it no longer holds his interest.
Speaking of which, I (for one) can never thank him enough for this.

Many years ago, there was a politician (I am quite sure that it was a US one) who was confronted with an indisputable fact, and replied: 'Yes, I know that is a fact, but at the moment I prefer not to take it into consideration'.
I have been unable to google my way to the name of that politician, and which fact he chose to not take into consideration. Can someone around here help me?

There are so many fact averse US politicians right now I can't help you, sorry.

This. They all do it, they just don't all verbalize it.

I am with our codewitch on this one : this may apply to quite a lot of people in the political class, so it is going to be complicated to fetch the OP.

The first rule when listening to a politician (name your country), is that they are all liars.

After watching our gubernatorial debate, I realized the only truthful thing that each of them uttered was 'You're a liar!'
"the debugger doesn't tell me anything because this code compiles just fine" - random QA comment
"Facebook is where you tell lies to your friends. Twitter is where you tell the truth to strangers." - chriselst

You must live in Georgia. I watched that too.
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

You mean like our Democrats who ignore the fact that the earth has been warming for the past 12,000+ years and burning oil and coal isn't the culprit (no carbon emissions model has correctly predicted the past 100 years of surface and sea temperatures), or our Republicans who ignore the visual evidence that burning oil for transportation and coal for power cause human misery via local air pollution?
