EA's gained a reputation for a lot more than just being in business to "make money". There's plenty of horror stories where EA's name is used prominently. I understand crunch time, but it should never be the norm.

EA aren't my favourite games company - too many microtransactions needed to play the game you thought you paid for (but only rented a bit of) - but you should be working on some cutting edge stuff!

Haha.. I forgot to ask about that....
The good news is, the American teams finish their when we start ours, so we can hassle them while they want to go home, but nobody hassle us at the end of our day!

the long hours are usually attributed to getting a game out on schedule and usually happen toward the end of the release schedule - bug fixes, etc. your normal working hours will not be 16 hours a day.

Seriously though, I feel that respecting your employer's/customer's schedules and deadline is equally important to them respecting your private free time.
Making extra hours is fine, as long as it's very temporary, for a good cause, paid and appreciated.
When all is well, it's perfectly balanced, as all things should be

I remember a few good games of EA on C64 (Chessmaster and Where in ... is Carmen Sandiego are the two I most played probably)
The most 'modern' game I played from EA was Medal of Honor...

Hey! I wasn't aware that the Carmen Sandiego games were EA. I am not a gamer but I bought them for my kids way back then (now they have their own kids of that age). They enjoyed them enormously and I enjoyed playing with them. They still speak of them and of the geographical or historical facts they remember because of those games.

I "play" Fifa... it's the most painful game I have ever played. Most of which has came since they introduced Frostbite.
Why do I keep playing it? because EA hold a monopoly on football games.
Not to mention the micro-transactions... gambling for kids... what a company

Well, morally right or wrong... it certainly sounds interesting.
I hope you will keep us updated with how you get on. It would be great to hear some stories about the inner workings of EA. Obviously nothing that would get you in trouble, but just things like how they separate features and workloads, etc. My assumption for a place like that is that it's very micro-managed - I could easily imaging 10 people all working on the same line of code!
