It was my birthday on Saturday, and Herself had finagled her shifts to get Friday and Saturday off.
Saturday, she was going to cook (Hooray!): steak au poire, triple-cooked chips, roasted tomatoes. Nice.
Instead, Friday afternoon she is feeling rough, and goes downhill. Full on Woman-Flu by bed time. Saturday, she has no energy, no sense of taste, and is snuffling through tissues like a nostril possessed.
Meal is canceled, and I cook Ditali in a cheese sauce with Serrano ham as it's easy to swallow.
The cat gets the squits. Oh joy.
Sunday, and she's off work - calls in sick - the cat is squirting every time he sits down, stands up, or eats. She collapses on the sofa, turns the telly up loud to the "true crime" channel and ... falls asleep for the day, waking up only when I try to lower the volume. 
Today, she's feeling well enough to go to work! Great, peace and quiet. Drop her off, come home, clean up cat poo - he's getting better but he's still locked in until he's well so he's got a serious strop on - sit down to do some stuff. She opens the door. Sent home as she looks too ill to work and might be a risk to the residents ... Oh joy.
So now, they telly is on loud, and she's snoring. What else can go wrong?

Fortunately not - he got the top of the system box instead, so bleach and anti-bac cleaner later, plus some Febreeze for the distressing aroma and we're good to go.
I'#m glad to report that the top has no ventilation holes.

Well I got to work to a power cut which took 2 hours to resolve (well maybe as they the electric company are sending a ground crew to see what the fault is) and potentially we could lose power to the office for up to 2 days.
Good thing you say? nah I'd then have to go home don the DIY outfit and fix things with small children trying to help and then she'll moan as a 5 minute job could take a an hour etc etc.

Get the company to hire a generator: think of the amount of work they will lose without electricity - the telephone exchange won't work, customer order will build up, ... And it's going to get seriously cold, according to the news.
Mind you, round here the electricity company turns up with BIG generators and plumbs them in while they fix the problem, if it's going to take that long.

We have a Disaster Recovery site (the fun on having a multi national parent company) for these kind of situations but application development are then not considered critical so we are sent home in these situations.
