Stupid idiot what I are, I only just went and got me some work.
The only problem [for me] is that it's an overseas company [legit before anyone starts] and they will pay me gross. Actually I think that should read "obscenely". 
So now I have to deal with Ian Land-Revenue on my own. Last time I said I didn't want to join his stupid club, but he does seem set on making me pay. So what is best bet for dealing with the Revenoo without setting up a company? Any hints, tips or Swiss Accounts would be greatly appreciated.

It's a better deal than Liz's Boys. I generally have never had a problem with tax because I never saw the gross, just the net. However, when I have to pay the bloody stuff myself I get miffed; vexed even.

Slightly related : I employ a nurse(?) to look after the kids after school when Ms.RaGE and I are at work -> This is one hell of bureaucracy,let alone figuring out which taxes should be paid to whom... And we are talking about employing ONE person with the EASIEST contracting you could imagine.
No wonder small companies think twice before hiring...

Simplest way is to register as self employed, and pay your weekly stamp - it's a couple of quid a week, payable monthly.
At the end of the year, you will get a Tax return to fill in, which is pretty easy to do yourself, or you can pay an accountant to save you a fair amount. You then send the return in, and follow it with the large chunk of moolah they will demand.

I understand that regiestering a company in Delaware can make it possible for non-americans to skip paying income tax at all, both in the US AND in their home country...
