I wouldn't bother trying to summarize it, because I don't collect such data as I have no interest in datamining my own listening habits. Why? Because I'm not trying to find emerging trends and identify patterns, and thus make recommendations for other things I might spend money on[*].
[*] For those selling content, that would be selling me CDs or (god forbid) MP3 or FLAC files. For streamers (selling subscriptions to content), that would be to try to keep me on as long as possible as a paying, captive audience. To which I say, I'll make my own spending decisions without anyone's help, thank you very much.
In other words - that's nobody's business, especially those who have a vested interest in making money based on what they know think I like.
Yes, I kinda have issues with those trying to sell me stuff, especially when it's not solicited. I'm sick to death of ads. I don't like to be analyzed, processed, catalogued, put in a box and being part of anyone's demographics.
Nothing against your question -- I'm just making a point that probably goes faaaar beyond your intent. I'm really not that much of a jackass (despite all appearances).

Wow! I'll bet you're the life of the party...

Why are people up in arms about Google, Facebook, Microsoft, etc collecting your data but services such as these get a free pass? I don't see the difference.
And to answer your question - I'm am the guy who warns others, at those parties you mention, about using those services. And my stance is, use them if you want. Just understand you own nothing, and when they go away, you'll have nothing to show for whatever money you spent with them.

Hey... plagiarist... that was mine.
My brothers were really music fans asnd bought a lot of music in the 80s and 90s... I haven't hear everything they had yet. And from time to time I buy something new, a friend lends me something / makes me a present... more than enough.
When I want to hear music, I don't want to start looking for a good spot for my phone. I just want to choose, hit play and enjoy it.

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

My top five artists are:
Tales of Series Sound Team
Motoi Sakuraba
Blut Aus Nord
Bandai Namco Game Music
Distant
Too bad number 1 and 4 kind of mess up my list.
Motoi Sakuraba is also for Tales of soundtracks.
I've listened to Tales of soundtracks, but those are a lot of songs with a relatively short play time.
All in all I've listened to way more black metal (my top genre).
My top five songs are by:
Thy Catafalque
Obituary
Vexed
Signs of the Swarm
Distant
All in all I've listened to 99,682 minutes of music, or 69 (nice) days of non-stop music.
That's only Spotify though, I still listen to MP3 in WinAmp and on my phone too

New CDs added to the collection this year: (in no particular order)
0: Neal Morse Band - Innocence and Danger
1: Transantlantic - The Absolute Universe
2: Dream Theater - The Astonishing
3: Steven Wilson - The Harmony Codex
4: Porcupine Tree - Closure/Continuation
I just had a conversation with my brother over Thanksgiving where he claimed that nobody is making good music anymore. My response was that you won't find 'good music' on mainstream channels. It's there, you just have to know where to look.

If your goal is to get the following three concepts into the minds of a large group of people...
- Binary Arithmetic
- Boolean Algebra
- Hexadecimal Arithmetic
...In what order would you present the concepts ?
(That list is in alphabetical order to prevent any implied bias)
Why do you feel that your chosen sequence makes more sense than others ?
|
|
|
|
|
Boolean algebra is probably the easiest for people to grasp, as you can use real world examples:
IF it_is_raining
WEAR waterproof
ELSE
WEAR t-shirt
ENDIF
Binary and HEX (or any other base) are especially challenging for people whose mathematical abilies may not be very high. I tried to explain both of those to someone once but they just could not get it.
|
|
|
|
|
I hesitate to post a non-KSS counter-argument to your example.
