Mrs. Wife uses them a lot but only because those arsewipes that run ebay insist you do. So far she's not been ripped off by them but some of the wankers she buys from try it on with P&P costs. She bought two similar sized items and both were up t'north in Yorkshire. One charged no more than £3 postage and the other wanted something like £12. I told her to complain to the ebay arsewipes and they must have dumped on the arsewipe seller who later emailed to say the P&P was an "administrative error" and then dropped the P&P to something close to £4.50.
Now, be a good boy and bury your head in a crate of beer.

Technically, I think all of that is eBay, not PayPal...

Probably, but try and buy something from them that doesn't require paypal as the only means of payment process or ""authorisation".

That's a problem with the ebay business model. They take a cut of the price, but not of the shipping fees. Sellers, of course, then make their products cheap and raise the shipping & handling to make their money.

You are so correct, absolutely useless, no time for them, nothing but trouble.........wait, that doesn't sound right.
In fact, I have had no issues with them ever. Much rather put my faith in them, than giving some random my CC details.
But that is not what you want to hear is it!

No! Don't you have a helicopter to catch?

But do you use them? I have bought multiple dozens of things off the internet over the years giving my Credit Card to randoms and never had an issue.

Not until Tuesday, then I'm homeward bound.
I use Paypal all the time, especially handy so you don't have to have your credit card to hand. I have only had two or three problems in my credit card owning history and these were recticfied by the issuing company.
I used to know my primary credit card number, issue and expiry dates and cvc code off by heart, but my memory is too full of other cr@p now that I would need to go get it if I needed it.
I also like how I can choose which payment method the funds get pulled from, i.e. credit card, paypal balance or direct from bank, depending on what I am buying.

Nope can't help, never have, never will use them if I can possibly help it.

Of what - if 38.5% of $100 then it is not worth getting shafted by them!

USD$96.00 versus USD$156.00 and that is the current rate. I only expect prices to go up.

PayPals business model is accusing random people of fraud so they can freeze their accounts. They can then just take the money, because it's impossible to ever get an account unfrozen.
|
|
|
|
|
They froze my account once, because there was some problem with my ID - never did get to the bottom of exactly why. But they unfroze it within a week when I proved I was who I said I was. I'd rather they did it that way than let people impersonate me!

You're lucky they didn't just find an other excuse to immediately re-freeze it. You're probably just a buyer then? With not that much money in the account?

No, I've sold a few things on FleaBay which means you have to use them, but I don't like the percentage cut they take, or the way they are so rabidly on the side of the buyer, even you can prove delivery to a lying elephant...never lost the money or the goods, but it's been unnecessary hassle at times.

2.9% is too much? Or do you mean that they take anything at all?

2.9% is too much for the simple service they provide (and then FleaBay take their cut as well...)

It's a necessary evil, I would rather give/trust my credit card info with one company then to entrust to multiple.

I discovered the major downside to PayPal recently.
I was perusing NAS boxes, found one I liked at a good price, but had to add it to the cart to see what delivery would be (b*stard sons of camel herders for doing that but advertised price was $40 cheaper than closest I'd found).
When I saw that delivery was free, and I was looking at the payment screen, I had a choice.
Go upstairs, get my wallet, take credit card and painfully enter details, or click the PayPal button.
Net difference to me for that transaction - a flight of stairs, and the knowledge that I would forget to put my wallet back and have all the buggery that ensued vs clicking a button.
So I clicked the button and bought it.
I suddenly realised that, had I had to go get my CC, I would probably have carried on investigating to make sure I had the best deal.
(I did, subsequently, and couldn't find it cheaper, so worked out this time - but the point remains, it makes it easier to spend money.)

The email address is great Michael.
PayPal don't send any random emails except for an occasional policy UPDATE and an occasional marketing thing.
I do get a lot of pretend (Phishing) PayPal emails though.
I haven't had a Telstra bill for years so the lingering hatred has faded for me.
I have used PayPal for years, both as a buyer and a seller, I don't mind the fees and I have never had a problem.
Here's the bullshi*t reason to make you feel a bit better:
It is easy and fast.
(and you may save a few bucks. Invest any savings in some p*ss for the weekend. It works on my machine.)
