Water I think - they steam wood to bend it for things like tennis rackets and snowshoes, so I'm pretty certain it would work.
The only instant messaging I do involves my middle finger.
English doesn't borrow from other languages.
English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

People always ask me why I keep an iron (the type for doing shirts) in my workshop.
I usually say that it's for applying pre-glued lipping to MDF, but it's more often used with water or a damp cloth for taking out dents in wood (no-one believes this unless you demonstrate it).
As long as the grain isn't broken or cut, any dent or bump can be brought out with a few drops of water and an iron -- let it dry, sand, re-laquer, and you'd never know there had been a dent.
That goes for wooden flooring, as well as furniture; a mate of mine was amazed when it only took me two minutes to take out dozens of dents that a chair leg had made in his maple floor, that he'd had to keep covered with a rug.
His missus told me that he spent the next month crawling all around the house with an iron and a glass of water.

That is brilliant, but looks mad I assume

Where's the best place to look for contractor roles? Doesn't seem to be much on Dice or Monster for LA/SF Valley.
Thanks.

I don't know about the current situation. But when I was in the USA 1.5 years back. The highest number of job requirements I would receive are from Dallas, New York, Boston, Houston, Chicago (In that order). And only a few from LA/SA (These are basically locations for Startups and Chip-based companies).

SF: San Fernando Valley!
Have not used C++ for many years: mostly C# when I do code.

I really like Phoenix and would love to work there. However, really don't want to move so unless I could commute...

When I had my profile active on Dice a couple of months ago, I received plenty of offers for contract positions in LA (Orange county mostly) and SF (Silicon valley).
However, most of those recruiters would call me up without sending an email first, which annoyed me because a lot of the positions were not in line with my skills.
One recruiter from an agency in Atlanta was very eager to get on with the paper work and wanted me to send all kinds of personal information...he is still waiting.
