That seems... dangerous. "What could possibly go wrong?"

How is it much more dangerous than a butane lighter?

I was impress with the "can be carried on airplanes" part, so I won't have to worry about ending my games / music / video early on long flights - although they didn't specifically say it could power devices while charging

If you could "hack" the powercell to be able to refill it with your own butane, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I guess it contains < 3 ounces of butane and nothing to ignite it? Though it wouldn't be hard to destroy the cell to start a small fire.

The fact that people might be tempted to keep it "turned on", and thus producing quite a lot of heat, in their pockets/bags.

I would think heat would only be generated if it is charging something.

I'm not an expert, but if the fuel cell is "running" then it generates heat. I'm not sure if the amount of heat differs when it's actually connected to something.

Dario, when you said it was "turned on" I thought the heat production was natural.

Me think it's kind of a good idea, but a little bit useless.
Unless you are really far away in the rain forest, you will probably be near an electrical outlet to let you recharge your devices.
Am I missing something ?

I find it useful for those traveling by train, bus, bicycle, feet, kayak, paddleboat, rowboat, or those camping, protesting, or homeless.
(Also, my boss lost power the other night and sent a text saying his phone was dying, could be useful in extended emergencies like storms, blizzards, civil disorder, asteroid, mayans)

especially the Mayans - I'm stocking up for early next year

Plane, trains and automobile (and maybe long haul buses) all have chargers of some kind (adapters or available sockets)
Hippies who bike, kayak, feet paddle, ... will use solar chargers that do not need to be recharged at all.

Not sure where you are from, but subway trains in Chicago, and commuter trains in the region have no sockets. That can be up to and over a 2 hour ride one way. No regional buses do either.

At night, in the rain, etc?
And what about those caught in the end of the world that need to charge their iPod to listen to R.E.M?

here on Brazil we also don't have electricity outlets... the USA aren't the center of the universe, you know...
I'm brazilian and english (well, human languages in general) aren't my best skill, so, sorry by my english. (if you want we can speak in C# or VB.Net =p)

if you are from the USA then you would know that we most certainly are the center of the universe.
If it moves, compile it

Well, if you are out of charge while commuting, then it might be your problem; anyway, you will also forget to recharge your fuel cell gizmo.
Also, the sun might just stop shinning for no particular reason.

I have no idea what you are attempting to say here, as that is the point of the device. The gizmo doesn't seem to need to be charged as it's run from a fuel cell of butane. Just keep an extra around, it's as convenient as a lighter.

Electrical outlets are not always available. Case in point, when traveling over the weekend there were few available outlets in the air terminal. Those that were available were a distance from the gate and I would have been tethered to the wall until complete.
With this device charging could be done as I walked or sat at the bar or on the plane.
Failure is not an option; it's the default selection.
