It's hard to be so busy without working, but the last couple of days have been full on.
Yesterday I went to see an old friend about a possible opportunity. It's a web start-up with a lot of potential, I think the idea is very good and it should work, the issues are not really technical just how to get it started - without existing users it has no value so we need to build up users without the site working kind of thing.
This morning I am in the process of updating my CV for a job at the UN of all places. It's in Wien and though the basic is less than I was on in the city it is tax free.
Then the family are keeping me flying. We had a music evening with Icle's class on Monday and yesterday it was Biggerest's turn. There was huge drama when she completely dried up and lost her breath just at the start of her trumpet solo. There were tears, but everyone understood how she had been hit by nerves. After all the pieces were done the teacher asked her if she wanted to try again, she did and played it beautifully to great applause.
Today both the girls are on school trips. First Biggerest had to be at the Nyugati station for 7am, then after she left Ickle had to get to school for an 8am departure for her trip. I will pick up Ickle at 2 and then Biggerest at 4:30.
And there's more. I got a letter yesterday saying that the girls have places in school back in Horsell, were I grew up, at my old school from September. That paves the way for a safe return to the UK in the Autumn if there is no work here [or in Wien].
So how busy have you lot been?

The usual... Finals week for school, and my lady's graduating from college Friday; we're spending the weekend in a casino to celebrate. Arrived home last night to work on my final exam, and found the A/C had quit. I found a replacement today for the start capacitor that had blown itself in two, popped it in after work, and all's well. Of course, I didn't get any exam written... The Tribe decided to fire the entire Board of Directors of my company, the only profit-making entity they own - and they got replaced last night by a load of wankers, people who are chronically late on their bills and who get disconnected a lot. I suspect that the lights will be going off soon on the reservation. My hosting company(ies) have totally elephanted up my domain transfer, so I've been swapping emails with them to get things sorted out. That's a bit problematic, as we used the GM's email as the ID for the service, and he's out of the office for a few days, so I have to hack his email account to read the responses. Maybe tomorrow I'll get to work on my final exam, but I doubt it. Tonight I got a hankering to write a home version of Cleopatra Keno as a birthday gift for my lady. It's her favorite casino game, and it would save me a bundle if I could get her to stay home to play, so it's worth a few hours invested, as long as I get this final exam written. I've got 6 days to write the exam, and 4 weeks until her birthday. No problem...
Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

It is the same here for the Graduation Class - aged 17-18 - at the local Grammar School. This would not be an issue for me except that the bus to/from my girls' school goes past the Grammar School and these teens can be seen outside. Not an issue? They all have to wear their uniforms instead of casual clothes. Still not an issue? The girls have 'sailor tops' and short pleated skirts. It kills me every time a gaggle of them get on the bus.

I once heard that men are better at handling short-term stress and women are better at handling long-term stress. Maybe that is part of the reason job strain affects women less.

I also heard that women can multitask and men can't.

It may be a subjective impression, but we might also take into account who actually is responsible for creating most stress..
