End of life? It says it's about the latest releases, RHEL 8, Fedora 13, Ubuntu 18.04LTS. The date on 18.04 is pretty obvious; the others were released in 5/2019.

It's that time again - GTC is happening now. Unfortunately, it's virtual again but that is probably not going to change for a while. Is anyone else here 'attending'?
The sessions I have watched so far have been mostly pretty good, mostly. I have been disappointed with every one I about AI, so far. That's because they were nothing but marketing hype with very little of interesting substance. It's pretty obvious that is where Nvidia's focus is because, according to them, the market is really booming right now and nearly all of their products are focused on it. Personally, I think they are generating a lot of over-expectations right now that might come back to haunt them, especially if it takes a while for the real killer app to emerge.
I am primarily focused on HPC and the sessions on enhancements to C++'s support of parallelism have been fascinating.

I really wish my toolchains weren't crusty. I'd love to be dabbling in bleeding edge C++ but I also have to be careful where I spend my time. I only have so many years left, so until my toolchains support the newer standards, I'm at C++17.

My Modem is Arris brand with a wireless router. I suspect somebody hacked in my Modem in my home because wired internet connection is not stable.
how to find it out?

But ... IIRC, Arris modems had a problem a few years back when hardcoded backdoor accounts were discovered - if your router firmware isn't up to date, it may still have them and that means anything can get in.
The other possibility is noise: get a WiFi analyser on your phone and look how many other people are using the same WiFi frequency - if it's a lot, move to a quieter zone.

Chances are you haven't been hacked. If this is a cable modem, and your incoming cable from the pole is hanging in the air before it gets to your house, you need to get that cable replaced.

OK, and? Two years is a long time to wait to "hack" somebody. I seriously doubt they're screwing with your cable modem. If you think there's a problem with the modem, call your ISP and get it exchanged. If you still have problems, get the cable going outside replaced.

An unstable connection is no grounds to suspect of a hack.
Besides, unless you are using a PSTN dial-up there is no reason to hack a modem (who is old enough to remember the dialer viruses?).

I just made a few breakthroughs. That's nice.
What's not nice about it, is the absolute torrent of canned worms it has left in its wake. 
Basically I've unlocked the ability to port a bunch of old code to work on another platform.
And now all that old code is staring me in the face. I'm talking perhaps dozens of libraries.
I'm feeling overwhelmed.
