Very, very well put. In the league of Chris Duncan, I'd say.

He's a regular on CP, though it's been a while since I saw him post.
There are many people on CP that I like, but the list of people I admire is quite short. Chris Duncan is a shoo-in. When I complimented Josh, I was specifically referring to this[^] quote from Chris.

Isn't that amazing! I love it. I just think it's incredible. That's a see of humanity. Does anyone know where I can get a really high resolution picture of that? I want my wallpaper for that.

The GeoEye site[^] has them in high resolution (one I saw was 200x2700 - more than enough for a couple of desktops)

Hi Kent,
fyi : the high-res download of Inauguration1.jpg from GeoEye does download a 2000x2070 24 bit jpg, but it's not the one of the inauguration shown on the site : it's an area in the Mall area of Washington, D.C., however.
I've sent an e-mail to their web-master about this.
best, Bill
"Many : not conversant with mathematical studies, imagine that because it [the Analytical Engine] is to give results in numerical notation, its processes must consequently be arithmetical, numerical, rather than algebraical and analytical. This is an error. The engine can arrange and combine numerical quantities as if they were letters or any other general symbols; and it fact it might bring out its results in algebraical notation, were provisions made accordingly." "At left, crowd. At right, Capitol Building."
Until I noticed that helpful pointer I had the two completely mixed up. Oh, that's the Capitol Building. Silly me.

Out of curiosity, does Canada have "we don't really care what happens in America" attitude or are they celebrating like it's a new Caesar also?

Happy but reserved. We're more the shut up and git 'er done kind of people. So far the talk is all good (well, mostly); it's the action we're waiting for.

Dumping creatures like William Shatner and Celine Dion on the US and getting wasted while laughing at the idiots in INS who let them in.
Today's lesson is brought to you by the word "niggardly". Remember kids, don't attribute to racism what can be explained by Scandinavian language roots.

Ignore the Canadiennes - they are being bashful.
As far as I can tell they are even more excited (dare I say "relieved") than anyone else I know of. It's a big, big deal, at least in Tronno.

My GF, from Waterloo, spent most of yesterday texting me from Dublin, apopleptic with excitement and here in Zurich there was an Obamapalooza Party in the local... The sense of relief in Europe is palpable. I can't think of one person I know who isn't excited about being able to respect the US President again, and by extension, the will of the US people. The chap certainly has his work cut out for him though. He certainly can speak - what an inauguration speech - but it remains to see if he can lead as well as he can inspire. I for one am optimistic. I'm sure it was an emotional day for many Americans, and to the worried neo-cons... All I'll say is, give the guy a chance.
