14 years wow, are you in for a shock, deciding on contract or permanent, agencies, consultants, interviews, dust off the old suit, sharpen up those interview techniques. Mate, you have my sincere sympathies and I hope something comes good quickly.
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity

I don't think those words will quite do it justice. As for the kind of work, I would just like to continue programming and / or creating databases.
The last time I had on a suit was for a dinner event for my brother back sometime in 2001/2002.

Sorry to hear that. How's the market where you are ? How does the skillset of the last 14 years match your market ? I hope it works out for you.

Well, as far as the market goes, a few of my other co-workers that got laid off back in October are still looking. The unemployment rate here in the Boise, Idaho area is just below 6% which is more than double what it was last year at this time according to the local news reports.
I have always been the one in our group to try and learn the new technologies so I should have a fair chance in the market. Course, my coworkers always said I know more than I think I do (they're just being kind...)

Well, good luck with it. Keep an eye on the CP job boards, they might have some for you to go for....

I've got a job that doesn't suit me very well… but I don't complain because it's hard to get another. Good luck to you.
So the creationist says: Everything must have a designer. God designed everything.
I say: Why is God the only exception? Why not make the "designs" (like man) exceptions and make God a creation of man?

Didn't we call this Time Sharing back in the day? Wonder if there's a per pixel mouse movement charge.

Brings back memories of the whole micropayments thing when DEC considered charging fractions of a penny for AltaVista usage.

Yeah that plan didn't get very far either, and look where DEC is today?

Not really too different to paying for your mobile wanker phone usage, is it? You pay for calls, texts MMS etc. at different rates.
If I knew then what I know today, then I'd know the same now as I did then - then what would be the point?

Yet another OpenVMS feature working its way into Windows?
I'd rather have logicals and symbols; file versions would be very good too.

You haven't set yours to use a proper date format? (Not that every utility uses it anyway.)

I still miss it, which is why I now have to two AlphaServers at home, but I'm not going to learn COBOL just so I can get work using it.
