This seems unusual ... I use mostly IE11 and sometimes Edge, and in both cases the CP-login remains stable - never saw a problem with it so far ...

The company I work for produces a software utility package for our OEM clients, and the executable must be personalised for each client. Does anyone have recommendations for a software package that can do the following:
- Insert personalised binary information in the application, without requiring recompilation of the application
- Will sign the application after the information is inserted (NICE TO HAVE)
- Works on Windows and Linux (32- and 64-bit) executable formats
The host O/S is immaterial.

I don't know an existing utility. But if you have declared a block of fixed size static memory for your binary data in the application it can be replaced by a simple self written tool that looks for that (using a signature) and overwrites the data in the executable file. Afterwards you can sign the application as required.

Except for the signing, much like what I did to DOS's command.com file. You simply replace a code block with one of a size less than or equal to the existing block. If it includes items such as strings, you may have to consider that ASCII-Z terminator!
Brings back such nice memories - partly because I was so much younger.

I just started the fantastically easy-to-read Idea Man by Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft)[^].
I recently read (but only got half-way thru before quitting, Hit Refresh: The Quest to Rediscover Microsoft's Soul and Imagine a Better Future for Everyone by Satya Nadella (Microsoft's current leader)[^]
Allen's book pulls you into the story and makes you think about the possibilities, invention, innovation, starting a business, building something.
Meanwhile, unfortunately, the Nadella book just didn't excite my imagination.
It is interesting that Allen was part of the team who really built the the stuff that built the business and Nadella is just a manager who was placed in the position.
This is very similar to Ballmer v Gates. Microsoft was driven by Gates but Ballmer was just placed in a position to manage a company.
However, I do actually think Nadella is a far better leader than Ballmer.
The contrast of the two books is quite interesting and I'm amazed at how interesting and well-written Idea Man is.
Have you read the two books? Or either?

Taking advantage of a short break when I knew that my computer wouldn't be busy, I manually started an installation of Windows 10, Build 1803, also referred to as the Redstone 4 or Spring 2018 Creators Update. The result, Redstone Reverted, illustrates the discoveries I've made in my first day using the upgraded OS. I am both astonished and disappointed that the installation program for such a mature operating system still exhibits such amateurish behaviors as reverting carefully crafted user settings that should be in the user hive of the Windows Registry, and off limits to operating system upgrade programs.

Though I marked the message as a rant, the scope of said rant is quite limited. The Microsoft upgrade groups needs to write robust, customer focused installation scripts that respect users' carefully crafted settings. Windows is 33 years old; it's past time they grew up.
On the whole, I am happy so far with Redstone, and I never had any of the problems with its immediate predecessor (Fall Creators Update) that drew so much attention from the trade press.
I thought you might be joking about the Eye-Control Text-To-Speech, but I see that it's a thing. Unfortunately, a quirk in the way my eyes work, for which the medical term is [^]Nystagmus, would almost certainly render such technology anti-productive for me. I have also confirmed that a "right-blink" produces exactly the same context menu in my installation.
