We were defeated by the weather after about 148 miles in the Pennines.
Finished the last section with a rented van.
Observations:-
1) The national cycle route (Map here)[^] is amazing.
2) England especially is completely full (traffic) - even tiny roads are really too busy to cycle.
3) Much of Wales is beautiful

I have driven Holyhead to Manchester many times and thought there was nothing of note in between.
Cycling gives it a different perspective.
(It is, however, already overrun with Englishers)

I agree, Wales is beautiful, I once walked the Pembrokeshire coastal path.
Also I still remember the apple pie with custard in Fishguard
