I've been using text-based MSDN for years now. If I want to look up an API call, I text the name of the function to a number, and they reply with a text showing the syntax. Very handy, very quick and easy to use. Love it!

The up cursor key on my lappie appears to be deaded. Well if not deaded, at least deading. It works intermittently but is causing me endless pains. As a temporary measure, I have had to switch off the number pad, which I do use, so I can have cursor keys for when I'm coding; an activity i am being paid to do for a change.
If anyone has any hints or tips short of 'buy a new machine' then I'd be most greatfull.

Buy a new keyboard? Installing it may require that you take the notebook apart, but usually is just a matter of getting the old one out without damaging anything else and getting in the connection cable the right way.

That's the hardware way. A software guy simply writes a small tray icon app that when clicked will use Sendkeys to send an arrow up keystroke.
Much easier and cheaper! Elegant solution... (and there's a CP article in it as well)
Or perhaps rewire Arrow up to another, less used key - I suggest "¤"...
