Way back long ago I worked at a PCB development company. Amongst the things, even back in the 1980's that was important is that boards are typically multi-layer. This allows smaller and more complex circuitry. Possibly more than you need worry about, but this type of planning, topographic layering, in some ways simplifies the design (no need to have weird routes as "wires" can cross without touching), but could increase the cost of the software.
Note that plating through the whole was an important part of these designs - so that when those wires cross and you want them to meet at a connection (drill hole) they do.
At that time, the company even had a machine that drew with wire as an alternative to the etching process - and since the wire was insulated, they needn't worry about crossing lines unless they wanted them to connect (drill, plate-through).

Easy-PC PCB Design Software by Number One Systems[^]
At the time it had no auto-routing but was the only affordable one I knew of. Not too bad for the price but I've no idea how it is now.
Protel (I see they changed their name) was really good, during the 1 month trial. Was $5000 then...

Altium DXP would be my choice, but KI Cad I have tried it seems usable. Protel is/was good but expensive, I still get cold sweats from using it at Uni. It was the DOS version where you could assign your own short cuts, I rarely did so hitting F1 could do anything!

I use Altium myself and can highly recommend it. Eagle cad is quite popular with the DIY/Arduino crowd.

I think the sys admin and I tried TICAD free and seems quite feature rich down side open source!  Recommend Eagle as I have used before but could not find the refernce I used, think it was amalgamated with RS Components in the UK...

Sorry about your loss.
I feel your pain. My dad had a melanoma removed 21 years ago. Even though it was done right and he had follow-ups, it was not enough. In January of this year they found, that the melanoma cancer had spread throughout his body. He passed away in April.

Lost my father to prostrate C last year, also recently couple of younger brother's in law to Liver C,
had a large melanoma taken off my own back and now forever in high risk category. Dengue A - now high risk if I catch any of the other 3 variants.
Boo bl**dey hoo, sh*t happens to everybody.
Furthermore, none of those ever make me want to drink - even more so to brag about getting drunk, that's just childish. Do you really think your sister would want you to get stupid to honer her???
Grow up and do something useful for somebody instead, THAT would show proper respect.

Sorry Martin, not trying to compete.
You know as a survivor I don't count years, I count every day I still get, and when I get time (still have to work to support the family) I give back to other people like you and me that are suffering, yes volunteer work. I've realised life is precious, and the greatest gift one can give is to help other people.
Now I realise people handle grief differently, talked to many that do a lot worse than you've suggested - that's OK.
What I, and the colleagues at the center I showed your message to as HIGHLY OFFENSIVE (to the people we are helping, to the work we are doing, and yes to me) is YOU BRAGGING about getting drunk using the death of your sister as an excuse.
Getting drunk - maybe not the best idea but as I said grief does different thing to different people
But BRAGGING ABOUT IT: that is just 100% offensive.
Working at an organization trying to help people:
AND YOU GO AND BRAG THAT GETTING DRUNK IS ACCEPTABLE
HIGHLY HIGHLY OFFENSIVE.
Greave in your own way if you feel the need,
