We are using laser printers and looking at those Epson prices for refills seems to be the same. For several reasons it's not viable for us to use inkjet.
I'd also like to keep buying printers of the same family because it makes it easier to repair and maintain as well as butcher for spare parts.
At least nice to see manufacturers trying to cash on smarter solutions.

Well yes and no; this kind of thing has been pretty rife in the printer industry for a few years from what I understood and alot of the time, due to my home printing habits I really did find it easier to just buy a cheapo one every time (we're talking I need a print job maybe once a year if that) or even just go to an internet cafe to do so.
There was a trend about 2 years back I thought that had certain makes deliberately marketing themselves as cheap cartridge usage but I had a hell of a time trying to find them recently.
There's one company I worked with that trialed renting them. Seemed to work well economically as they did a hell of alot of printing but had a flat fee to the rental company that included free cartridge replacement.

Why are people still printing so much? I go through about 25 printed sheets a year. With phones/tablets/laptops, why must people print? (I know there are valid reasons, but probably not as many as you think)

Actually, I spent a lot of Saturday looking in mirrors and smiling. As my darling lovely wife pointed out, I barely smiled at our wedding despite repeatedly expressing it as one of my happiest moments.
For as long as I can remember my teeth have been awful and I was too petrified to get them fixed properly. Well on Friday afternoon, my refitted gob was completed with two crowns. I now have a fully functioning set of gnashers and they look danged good.

It wasn't horrendously expensive. Over the last year I've had three pulled, 15 fillings, and two teeth root treated and crowned. All in it was less than £500; or the cost of a single root canal and crown in the UK.

Would it not have been easier, cheaper, longer lasting and more effective to simply get rid of the mirrors and other shiny things? There's a reason people's eyes aren't on the end of stalks that allow us to turn them back and look at ourselves.
It's like ugly feet. Instead of foot surgery, simply eat lots of bacon'n'mayo until your stomach sticks out to where you can only locate your feet by feel. Problem solved.

Hello all,
I've got a Linksys wireless access point n300.
In the instruction manual it states clearly it can work as a range extender and the method is as easy as connect, select the mode, select the router SSID and then insert the password.
I have done all those steps using a crossed cable and plugging the access point directly to a computer (just to configure it). After doing the steps the computer I've used to configure the device gets internet connection which means that at least the AP works as an AP.
If I take the access point to another room far away from the router and keep it unplugged from the LAN cable and plug it again to the current, I can't notice the signal strength to grow a little bit...
Given I've configured it as range extender, shouldn't the signal strength grow?
SOLUTION:
No, the signal strength doesn't grow, another wifi network with the same ssid appears and the devices switch automatically from one network to the other one when one of them disappear...

Your description is a little confusing.
Normally, you would place the extender somewhere between the computer and router so that the range is extended.
You should on the WiFi analyser see the different mac address of the router and AP/Extender and see different signal strengths between them.
The other thing to note is which frequency you have selected, e.g. 2.5 or 5 Ghz. if the router is pumping out both, but the AP is using only one of them, you might need to change the frequency selection you are monitoring on WiFi analyser.

Confirm which model you have is it the RE1000 N300 extender?
Ok, I think you mean you are using one of the fast ethernet ports connected to your computer, sorry I assumed the computer had WiFi!

I've just updated a little bit the post to make it clearer... I've plugged the AP to the computer only to configure it.
I can see in the Wifi analyzer both wifi signals...
Probably it has been working all this time and I've not been able to see it.
