Microsoft did realise, I assume, that most people will remote into their 2012 Server and that full screen metro windows that really work best with touch and block all other controls are kinda dumb.

My next/new development machine has Windows 2012 R2 Server installed as the primary OS ...
I'm guessing I eventually will install something like Start8[^] - used it before, turned Windows 8 into something that worked quite well ...

Not to mention that every switch between metro apps and the desktop ones cause the entire screen to repaint which, over a slow RDP connection, makes everything rather unbearable.
