When I read this "Today, the European Space Agency successfully landed a probe on a comet moving at 80,000 miles per hour. That’s an extraordinary achievement" I realised that it was not going to be a paticularly scientifically stimulating article.
80,000 miles per hour relative to what? I guess they mean relative to the orbital vector of Earth when the spacecraft was launched.

Possibly, but it might be relative to the Sun. I can't find a reference that defines it.

Without knowing the reference point, it makes it difficult to determine what 88,000 mph means.

A day late and a dollar short.
If I'd've know about that a few days ago, I could've either wrapped up what I was doing in the office and got home in time to do it from here, or just stayed late in the office to watch it before I left.
Instead you posted a mention of it when it was half overonly a minute or so from ending, that I didn't see before logging off at work, and now that I'm home it's already well over.
