Being a Brit living in the US for nineteen years now I have found my vocabulary shrinking as I avoid using words most mercans don't understand. For example, "penultimate" seems to be a big problem for just about all mercans.

Google makes billions out of Europe, and pays virtually no tax whatsoever.
So yes, they deserve to either be harassed into paying lawful taxes, or hounded out of the continent altogether.
They wouldn't be missed, but I'll bet they'd miss their (unlawfully) tax-free profits.

Beh. They're just search engines; all they do is create minimalistic reports on work that other people have done. I don't know when people started believing that that was more important than the work itself, but it's a mistaken belief.
They're easily replaceable, and would be quickly replaced (by organisations that pay their taxes, and therefore improve the welfare of our children).

Back in the day (before it was called "Visual Studio", even), the docs weren't too bad, but they must have hired a bunch of really incompetent technical writers to keep them going (going down the drain, that is).
What am I saying, "must have"? It's bleeding obvious that they hired incompetent technical writers, particularly at the senior levels.
Google doesn't make the content, though -- it doesn't do the work -- it just printfs a report on your screen, giving minimal details of pages that contain the work you need to see.
Any search engine can do that.
