Not because I don't trust it.
Years ago I got myself into financial trouble and removing the credit card was my first move and to be honest never regretted it.
Most things I buy online are small items which I trust my debit card with and I also only shop with what I would call reputable sites. Large items greater than £100, I usually put that money onto my dad's credit card and pay that way.
Every day, thousands of innocent plants are killed by vegetarians.

I don't have a credit card either. Most things I buy with cash. If I have to pay for something that costs more than I feel comfortable carrying around (e.g. car repairs), I use the debit card.
The good thing about pessimism is, that you are always either right or pleasently surprised.

Both.
I usually draw a reasonable amount of cash for small purchases (lunch/snacks/magazines) at the beginning of the week and try to only use that.
I use debit for larger amounts (mostly grocery)
I use credit for everything related to travel (plane tickets and other related expenses (hotel/restaurants)... ) and internet things.
I'd rather be phishing!

I basically use Cash card and but also carry some cash cos few place in Germany accept only cash( fast food, vending machine.....etc).
Even the Mc Donalds near my workpalce accpet only cash

I use credit card for fuel tanking, online buying and big buying in stores (Points, offers, discounts and so on in play)
I don't usually use the card to pay dinners or similars, specially if they don't bring the card-maschine to my table.

A financial advisor once told me never use a credit card on something that will end up in the toilet. Which is a nice way of saying, don't buy food or drink with a credit card. There is zero return on your investment and you end up racking up the amount you owe.
With that said, if you pay every month on what you charged, then this is mute point.

The point is: I do use the creidt card. But I don't use the credit option.
I can load the card-account with cash, and it works with IS-Ammount. Only when I get over my rest, then it activates the credit part. If not... it is just the same as other cards, but I don't have to insert pins. I have to sign the receipts (I prefer it like that)

My check card is a Visa card, of which I use it as credit but it is not a traditional credit card, which is kind of weird and I don't have to use a PIN. I have over draft protection but the card never has the ability to become a traditional credit card if I go over my limit.
Still, I don't pay for food or drink with a traditional credit card; cash only.

The only cash I carry is a £10 or £20 note in a cash stash [^] attached to my house keys for emergencies.
I keep track of all my spending using Microsoft Money so paying by card allows me to download my bank statement each week and more easily reconcile spending against receipts.
(as well as some coins in the car for when I need it for parking where the parking meters do not accept cards)

I have been doing that for 5+ years now. Personally I find it to be easier to manage my finances. With check card (ATM / Debit card) being used as credit card I did not loose anything. I am aware of the consumer benefit of disputing an item in credit card transaction and liability, some perks that come with some credit cards, but no thanks I will manage my own finances and leave the temptation of some perks out the bay.

Vendors mark up their prices by what credit cards they take. If you see American Express on the window, you know they are charging the processing fees back on you somehow (even if you pay cash). Discover is next, and Visa is generally the cheapest for the vendor to take. So I pay with the biggest cards I can, get the most cash back I can, and then pay off the entire balance each billing cycle. If you are paying cash or debit, you are losing money.
I do prefer to pay cash though. When I deal with people who don't take credit cards, I happily pay cash. Some big ticket places will negotiate a better price if you offer cash money in hand, opposed to credit cards. (e.g. "I cannot afford $800 for that item, but will you take 750 in cash right now?") Just make sure you are deal with a manager, they don't want the sale to walk off to a competitor.

Credit card ONLY. For many years now. We don't ever carry a balance, so we never pay any interest. As others have said, this is for the rewards. We have an airline credit card, and as such, we have accumulated (and used) enough miles for many free roundtrip tickets here within the US. We have also used them occasionally for upgrades to first class.
We are saving them now for first class both ways to Australia.
The other advantage of credit over debit is that debit is not protected against fraud by law. Most banks here do have protections, but it isn't required and your bank can change that on a whim. So, you could end up having your checking account drained before you know it, and then you have a mess on your hands.
I rarely have cash anymore for anything. If I do, it is because of very unusual circumstances and I usually will go to the bank and deposit it.
