One thing about Hyper-V: When you install it, it disables CPU throttling. So the CPU speed won't vary with the load.

The 1st Generation VMs work well as long as the OS you install has the drivers.
I imagine the 2nd Generation VMs work well with a Windows 8 guest, but you need to watch out if installing Linux. While the kernel drivers have been working since 3.10 or 3.11 and Secure Boot can be turned off, the efibootmgr from Intel does not format the entries in a way that complies with the UEFI standard. Thus when it creates entries (and the setup tool for all the boot managers use it) it corrupts the VM config file and renders it unusable. Then Hyper-V stops acknowledging the VM exists and will not even let you delete it.
I believe there are some very recent patches in Ubuntu to fix this, but it will be a while before they get to other distros. Till then just name the loader bootx64.efi and put it under "efi/boot" if you care to try.

Thanks, that sounds like a hairy situation. I think I'll avoid generation 2 for the moment.

Those old. Now all Linux guests need is the Hyper-V drivers, which are in the kernel's source tree.

Hello Friends,
I went for an interview to a company: they asked me these 2 questions:
1> I have a rope. There is no tool available to measure that rope. I can just measure that rope using time.
For example i set it on fire and the rope burns for one hour.
a>Now i want to measure the rope for half an hour what to do?
b>I want to measure it for 45 minutes. How to do?
2> I have a figure below:
I want to convert it to:
You have 2 options:
a>Either use 3 smilies at once to rearrange the figure.
b>Or use a combination of (2 + 1) smilies to rearrange the figure.
which means you have only 1 chance if you use 3 smilies.
OR
2 chances if you use (2 + 1) smilies
You cant do a 1 + 1 + 1 combination of smilies to rearrange the figure.
I was given 15 minutes to solve the above problems.

Standard simple rubbish - it's a test of your thinking, rather than your abilities.
They are - sort of - a good idea, in that they show the interviewer how you work through a problem rather than the finished result, which can indicate how flexible and logical you are.
But generally? Waste of time unless they are done face to face, and then the time limit is irrelevant.

thats true i agree to it. and one more thing, here there are a lot of walk in interviews. about 1000 people come to attend the interview.
So the strategy they adopt to cut off the mass is to put constraints/criteria which are baseless like:
1>You need to score a distinction through out your academics.
2>You field needs to be computer science.
and lot of such bull sh*t. So half of the crowd is cut off.
