I would suggest ProgramFails because many of them probably can't deal with the space in the path. Also be sure to set the permissions wide open and allow containers to inherit. That should help avoid problems writing to .ini files.

If it's a problem with the directory name you may be able to create a junction that bypasses the problem. 
C:\>junction STUFFIT "C:\program files"

I'm not sure what the problems are and with apologies to Tolstoy I suspect that: "...each broken program is broken in its own way".
But when all the examples/instructions show install locations like `C:\HalfBakedWindowsPortOfTheApp\` and if they mention it in a faq it's something like "Q: Can I install in Program Files." "A: No."
Ultimately I have better things to do with my time (eg post rants in the lounge); and can't be bothered to track down root causes for each one.

That seems to be a theme with open source apps on Windows. I think it's their childish way of thumbing their nose at it. Somehow refusing to cooperate with usual Windows practices emphasizes their 'independence' from the sheeple applications.
To my mind, it just means their developers are douchebags.

I've been using Qt Creator for the last several months on an after-hours project for a friend of mine. They follow Windows conventions in some places and arbitrarily go orthogonal in others, with no discernible justification.

The WWW site can be fun, but it's annoying the way that the chap promotes his favourite ideas, and ignores others -- especially when he's obviously wrong.

The declaration: He claims that the term was used for the police because of a character (a soldier) in a politically-topical cartoon that stopped being published thirty years before the term came into use
The annoyance: How many politically-topical cartoons stopped being published in the 1980s, and how many of their characters are likely to be used to create new idioms today? But it's the story he likes, so it, and only it, is reported as an option.
The facts: Cockney rhyming slang for the police in the 1940s and 1950s (the time when "Old Bill" came into use) was "bill and coo", which, following the standard usage of rhyming slang, was often preceded by the word "old", and then reduced to "old" + the first word.
That kind of blinkered English-can-only-be-how-I-like-it arrogance always p1sses me off.

So I stuck it in a holder and shoved it in the laptop, and none of the photos on the card can be read. None. At all.
Other SD cards work OK in the laptop. Is it just the card that got shipped with the phone?

There's a newer sdhc card with the same form factor but a higher max capacity, sdxc. I was wondering if you had an sdxc card and the laptop slot didn't take the more recent spec.
The card should say right on it if it's an xc.
Just a guess. I give it 20% likelihood.

The difference (very simplified) between SD, SDHC and SDXC is the address space.
SD works up to 4 GB, SDHC up to 32 GB and SDXC up to 2TB

Three questions....
1) Anyone play this game?[^]? It used to be playable on GameSpy, but it's been discontinued there. Anyone interested in playing?
2) What would it take to set up a server to host games?
3) I have thought about re-writing it, just for my personal use. I know I can write the code, but I'm clueless about how to do the UI/graphics? What's involved in this?

I often play A&A on www.GamesByEmail.com. (Not sure how it compares to other sites, as it is the only site on which I've played the game). The games on this site are unrushed - maybe get in a couple of moves at home in the evening, and more on the weekend. The games can take several days to several weeks to complete.
If you want to play a game in a single session, you'd best try other sites (googling revealed lots of sites complete with rankings).
Care for a game? Just go to GamesByEmail, start a game, and send me an invite. If you know any other players - invite them too. I find the 3 or 4 player games to be the most entertaining.
