No FOSW ? Hallelujah ! No acronymic-mystery-posts ever: well, maybe that's too much to pray for

Most of the time I cannot understand your posts. This time, well understood and I agree.

I didn't solve it and am not on the hook.
However... it is not even 7:30 AM here... and people are asking for the FOSW?
Consider that people are not necessarily in the same time zone and adjust accordingly.

Uncheck the box for treating recommended updates like important updates in your Windows Update settings.
If not, it will Auto - Install Windows 10 for you. They say you can still stop the installation, but why bother if you don't have to.

I have been using Win 10 for a while now, and like it. However, there are still some issues, like the display driver problem that is reported in this thread:
The Lounge - CodeProject[^]
I don't consider it wise for Microsoft to basically sneak 10 in as an update, until they have at least got it more compatible with all hardware customers may have.

Since the old times I learned to uncheck everything and Do not check for updates. If and when something stops working / needs an update I'll check them and install the bare minimum.

Why disable checks instead of the half way house of notify me when updates are available?
|
|
|
|
|
Because I don't want to be notified, nor I want it to look for updates. It must shut up - both towards me and towards the extern. It has to speak when it's spoken to.

Seriously? First they infuriated a million users by surreptitiously downloading it, in case we suddenly felt like upgrading, and now they are actually going to install it automatically?
The only good thing is Windows 7 Enterprise won't be affected, so my work machine should be safe for now.
I don't mind using it, in fact I do have it at home but I object to having it shoved forcefully up my... I mean down my throat.

I must be lucky. 0 issues with Windows 10 (and yes, I AM using it.)
Too much whining about this topic.
Many of those complaining are Microsoft developers. So, do something about it.
