Let us know if you narrow it down/solve it. I'm betting audio or video driver. If video, then extra points if they're from ATI...
Bottom line--I wouldn't blame Skype in taking down the OS.

I've just bought a new washing machine.
I cannot cope with choice.
There is a hell of a lot of choice.
Everyone should be assigned things like that, there is a website you go to, put in your details, you get told what your assigned thing is, you pay for it, it gets delivered.
I've lost half a day on this.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Wait till they have to connect to your router to get updates before it will do what it is to do.
That will be the day we ALL rue we ever even thought about doing IOT.

There is a recognised psychological phenomenon (they probably have a fancy name for it) where too much choice causes us stress.
Just take a walk down the breakfast cereal aisle in a supermarket. It used to be simpler but look at the variety of oaty Os there are now. Flavours, brands, sizes (the big one or the smaller one with 20% extra?) Only to find that when you make a choice and when you take your first mouthful you realise "I bought these before and I can't stand them!"
Life is like a s**t sandwich; the more bread you have, the less s**t you eat.

For our last washing machine purchase we went with purple!

There is such a system, its called communism.

You summed up my thoughts in much fewer words I would have.

And it really was that. The state managed everything, resulting in no choice and no competition, and without that, the quality was on the floor.
The one benefit of Communism is that one can now get very good valves for guitar amps from ex soviet countries, because they still made valve based products only a few years ago!

Trying to figure out whether you're trying to say it was worth it.

If you like valve amps, it was.

No way!
Last time I needed to buy something like that I freed the geek in me and I enjoyed it... ours is a direct drive device which makes less noise as it doesn't have belts which can't break!
It has a small digital display and a lot of small leds here and there showing you the current configuration and the timer... how nice it is to see the countdown for it to finish!
Moreover we were extremely lucky, we got it and they gave us the dryer (which is not fancy, but it was a present so...).
End of the serious part (really).
See?
This is the right attitude

I disagree, being grown up is easy. It's being a responsible adult that's difficult.

There are multiple websites for that already, e.g. "wife" and "personal assistant" are pretty popular.
They usually don't implement http protocol correctly, though. But you're a smart guy, you'll figure it out.
On the plus side, with some of the sites you can even skip the "put in your details" step - apparently they already know them better than you ever will.

I predict that a large majority of people on here will be saying "what the hell is cricket"
and a large proportion of those that do know it is a sport will be saying "meh"

If you stopped playing Warcraft, you might get a girlfriend who could wake you up instead of us.

Close.
I do know what cricket is[^], but some of my interjections have been influenced by Italian, so I said "beh", not "meh".
