Hologram: a three-dimensional image formed by the interference of light beams from a laser or other coherent light source.
This isn't a hologram. And honestly, it's going to be rubbish! Far less efficient than doing the same thing with a mouse or stylus in 2d!
Sure, it's nice to look at a real image in 3d using 3d glasses - but trying to model like that, waving your hands around in the air, sorry, just rubbish and nothing really new.

Every corporate marketing department is going to love it, unfortunately - at least for a few months anyway
How do you know so much about swallows? Well, you have to know these things when you're a king, you know.

You're probably right--it'll appeal to those who make a living with PowerPoint </shudder>

Yup. It looks cooler than the Fox's bear in Iron Man movies, but it would be a right royal pain in the @rse.
The keyboard, the mouse, the toolbar, and the menu. Those four things have proven time and time again that they are the best tools for working with computer applications.

I'm not averse to new interface methods - and the ability to move objects in a virtual 3d world will have its uses, I'm sure - but it's not really anything new (although building this into W10, if that's what they are doing, is an interesting move)
But unless you are using it for everything, sitting with goggles on is going to be a real pain in the butt, isn't it?!
especially as, with the addition of a small device, you can do the same sort of thing with a 2d screen and a 3d object (i.e. manipulate it with your fingers.
What does appeal is the ability to track what you are looking at - but not having to wear goggles
And talking to the thing, waggling your finger to click - it's flashy impractical bollocks!

Saw this video this morning, Ken Sharkey shared a link to it at Insider News. This stuff goes waaaay beyond cool
"There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies. The first method is far more difficult." - C.A.R. Hoare
