It also makes it damn near impossible to back up a boot drive - image or otherwise. If you make it so secure, no one can use it.... <fill in="" the="" blank="">

I just did a build a few months ago and it's a no-go for me also. SOAB

If your build is that new, there's probably a soft TPM option hiding in your BIOS somewhere.

No if you go into PowerHell, as admin and issue "get-tpm" it displays TPM properties and when I do it the system shows that it's not there.
But I can get a TPM plug-in module from MSI and others, which is currently unavailable EVERYWHERE.

powershell can't change bios settings.
If it's off in the BIOS as far as windows, or any other OS is concerned, it won't exist.

Yes I agree, I misrepresented myself there.
But I did go to my MOBO manual and there is not an TPM module on the board, but one will be available sometime in the near future hopefully. Out of stock everywhere right now.

I suspect the backlash of obsoleting perfectly functional machines will cause Microsoft to remove this requirement. For PC's lacking the chip, they will probably require 5-factor authentication. Phone, face, thumbprint, iris scan, and proof of vaccination.

This machine of mine is no slouch. And yet it can't run Windows 10 with Aero Windows 11.
I was wondering whether I'd continue with Windows or just bite the bullet and switch to those pretty coloured thin iMacs. Guess the choice is made.

Interesting that they left Lenovo and Dell off the list of retailers.
I guess I will worry about it when it ships, don't know what the deal will be for VM's. I think the CPU does pass through the TPM, but never turned it on here. Mine is back at 1.2.
Like me, my desktop is becoming obsolete.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

I glanced at the requirements - system must have UEFI boot enabled.
NO THANK YOU.
What a royal PITA. I called my laptop vendor and asked why my laptop came without UEFI enabled? "It's not worth the hassle." And I agree.

How much work would a working cat work if a working cat were made to work?
Given that there is no life at work, cats must have 5-to-9 lives.
