Have we come to a conclusion yet ? I think it will be difficult to police for several reasons:-
1) Who decides who will be handicapped
2) At what point do you stop being handicapped.
3) At what point do you stop benefiting from a handicap.
4) It's only a bit of fun.
Thoughts peeps ?

Agreed. Something that hasn't even been mentioned is that by the time someone in UTC-5 sees it, it's usually been solved if it's going to be solved at all. But given that most of the non-UK participants are in Oz, I wouldn't ask for this to change. Moving it to noon UTC, for example, would put it at 10pm in eastern Oz.

Results won't be in until Tuesday: The Lounge[^] as it was late on a Friday when it was suggested.
But ... the results are 100% "for" handicapping so far. I haven't voted yet as I suspect that if it does get in it'll end up with more work for me and I'm against that on general principles.
Policing? Dunno. If we decide it's needed, I'll think about it.
(4) is pretty important, I think!

I voted yes initially, but having thought some more I think we should leave it as it is and just ban me and you from the competition

Well it has the advantage of being easy to police ...

Agree re (4) - that should be the guiding principle
I had not considered 'policing' when I made the suggestion (and it was just a suggestion). I had assumed that CPers were honourable people who would just do what was intended without needing any oversight. Obviously, they could forget, but that's OK.
Sorry to have opened a can of worms!
