On a petty little machine, once every 10th of a second I need to update a graph in real time. Currently it's a graph where each point is a line that starts at the origin and continues to the value, so it is like a line graph but it is all "filled in".
I need to overlay a second graph. I'm connected @ 20Mhz to a display that even if I could figure out how to read from its framebuffer i couldn't do it at the speed necessary to do true alpha blending.
So I'm going to do fake alpha blending.
Each point in the graph will now be a multicolored line, where each line segment is blended to indicate the data point(s) it represents. For example if one dataset was red and the other was blue, where they intersect would be purple.
That means I divvy the line up into 1-2 segments and draw those instead of drawing a single line.
And I should be able to do that every 100ms without dropping frames.
Woo.
The project is starting to get fun.
As an aside, I put my foot down with my client on behalf of our end-end client (I'm kind of in a multi-layered client structure right now. I work for someone and we collectively work for someone else)
He's an electrical engineer, and I enjoy working with him, in part because of that, but I won't let him get his dirty fingers all over my beautiful UI. I told him "less is more" over and over again. Normally I give my clients what they ask for good and hard, but I'm taking a different approach this time because I actually like this project.

Sewerslvt - goodbye[^]
I got to know Sewerslvt somewhere in 2020 during lockdown.
Pretty good stuff, so I shared it with a friend.
I think he listens to it more often than I do, and last week he shared their new album with me (how the turntables!).
Their style is defined as breakcore and drum & bass, so it's pretty eclectic.
I found a definition of breakcore that sums it up nicely: speed, complexity, impact and maximum sonic density.
This track is the last track on the album (aptly titled "goodbye") that sums up the entire album in about 17 minutes.

So basically darkwave!
I've listened to the genre for a while, but can't say I'm still a fan of it...
Nice for an incidental change though

Do we have any tools packaged with windows 10?
I couldn't find a proper screen recorder.
Google takes me to expensive options.
For mac, it's available

Any similar free tools available for windows?

That's a new one on me. I followed the instructions, hit Win-G and got a little pop-up message that says "You'll need a new app to open this ms-gamingoverlay link ". It's got an OK button that is disabled, and nothing else.
Now, I've not clicked a "link", I've pressed a Windows key combination.
OK, so I'll need a new "app" - what one and where do I find it? Or even how do I find what application? (and don't patronise me by dumbing everything down to "apps ")
WTF is the point of showing me a dialog with one button that's disabled!?
Until recently, I used my free copy of Jing (from TechSmith) to record voice-annotated movies, which it saved as Flash files. That is, of course, until Microsoft deleted tools for playing Flash - without my consent or notification, on the basis they were "insecure". Including the ones I'd created myself or had proven safe from many years ago.
PS apologies for going off at a massive tangent. But if something's free and "included" with Windows, why doesn't it work????

I've just tried Win-G on W10-Pro and I get a 'Welcome to X-Box Game Bar'. I don't have an X-Box.
For comparison, I've just tried it on W11-Home and that does the same. And I still don't have an X-Box.

What happens if you click Start and type xbox? You should see the xbox game bar app.

Enabling or disabling game bar makes no odds. Still get that c***y useless, stupid message box.
Don't worry about further advice; I know all I need to know about it now. It's a pile of s**t.
