One possibility would be to create a file (full of zeroes) of the correct size. You could then mount and format the "disk" in a virtual machine running Windows. Apparently, all versions of Windows still support 5.25 inch drives (if you can find one...).
5".25 sizes are as follows:
- 160KB - 163840 bytes
- 180 - 184320
- 320 - 327680
- 360 - 368640
- 720 - 737280
- 1.2MB - 1228800
Note that these sizes are RAW. Once some space is allocated for various data structures (BPB, FAT, root directory), you get the standard sizes that you are familiar with.

DUH
That is so simple as to embarrass me.
My great brain at work; busily sleeping, I guess.
Thank you. I'm going to guess that i can use...
FORMAT A: ...or some such command on the fake floppy on the fake machine, and then, well, DUH, I have a fake floppy drive in there.
Thanks for the suggestion. I guess it was too obvious to be obvious.

Yes
Mind Reader sir; if you can do as well with the stock market, I want to be your friend !
Some of these fake floppies will be the old 160 size, up to the 1.4M size, and all the others in between.
I think think that Daniel Pfeffer's idea (a file of 0s, exactly the right size) is going to fix everything in my life forever, or at least until I die of old age.

A joke is never funny when you have to explain it, but here I go
"Outstanding commander in chief captures girl" could literally be a newspaper headline about some higher up abusing women.
I mean, these kind of headlines have been pretty common these last few years.
Maybe it's about the new Weinstein or Epstein (who didn't kill himself).
So that's why I wonder if it's today's CCC or a new #metoo scandal

No wonder I didn't understand it what does #metoo mean ?
Edit
No worries I googled it

I've always lived in a virtual cave Richard - and watch little or no news ( the referendum result was the last straw - and as for Brexit )

Well, they do say ignorance is bliss...
I recommended someone to stop following the news and Facebook just yesterday.
The media made her anxious and scared, first pandemics, caused by huge conspiracies, pedophile networks consisting of people in the highest places, the Chinese threat, and now a glooming (nuclear) World War III...
Facebook was feeding her all kind of conspiracy theories, one more ludicrous than the other, and because she clicked them, Facebook gave her more.
Not saying all of it is true (like Bill Gates causing COVID for profit and power), but she believes so
And to be honest, the reason I believe kids are happier than adults is because they don't watch the news

I raise you "The operation cannot be performed because the message has been changed." when you want to save or send a draft in Outlook.
Only solution I found so far is to copy your message, close the message, open a new message and paste everything, save or send, delete the draft that saved some old version.
Not copying your message will result in (parts of) your email being lost
