I never had that happen unless I'd typed an additional letter and the auto-complete changed in the fraction of a second between the letter and tab. My most common failure was when I'd tupe
blahFoo = DoStuff(blehFoo);
blahBar =
And it would suggest completing
blahFoo = DoStuff(blehFoo);
blahBar = DoSomethingElse(ughBaz);
or I was doing
Foo myFoo = new Foo
{
prop1 = bar.prop1,
prop2 = bar.prop2,
prop3 =
}
and be suggested:
Foo myFoo = new Foo
{
prop1 = bar.prop1,
prop2 = bar.prop2,
prop3 = baz.prop46,
}
basically the sort of highly repetitive code that I could've generated via regex on a list of stubs but wasn't large enough to be worth the overhead.

I kinda like the new font, in how it displays some of the combination of characters.

I didn't notice they changed it out from what I had in 2019 (consolas); which puts it one up on some of the other new fonts MS has commissioned over the years.

having looked at the new font, Cascadia Mono, I'm even more surprised I didn't notice. Its lowercase l is similar to the italic lowercase l in Consolas. And that l is just far enough off normal styling that my brain tries to reject it as an l each time it sees it bringing my reading to an abrupt halt until I mentally override.
A year or two ago when I was doing stuff in Android Studio, after replacing the default font (don't recall what it was but I didn't care for it) with Consolas I found myself waging a long war with the settings hunting down and changing every case where it would apply italics to style something. The next time I do something with Android I think I'll have to try this font on for size there and see how it works.

I installed it a few days ago and been busy doing some c# for the first time in about 5 years.
My code maybe looks terrible, follows no standards, but hey, it's working so far! Took my head ages to get round it all again. At least I've got an app that sends and receives commands from a USB device, and shares the data on request to TCP client apps. just need to try and create a data store and line chart for some of the readings.
1) escaped line feeds were being stripped from strings when being taken from the USB device, put into a snapshot store, and then read back for sending onto the TCP clients, no idea why, had to tag them back on again in the socket send.
2) for some reason the asyncread call back was killing the socket - no idea why - had to butcher the code and temporarily deal with the sending synchronously, at least it is in a separate thread (i think!)
2) Chart control is longer available in .Net 6 - might have to do this the hard way in a custom control and painting. - task for later
3) All these null warnings and the like......
yes, its for astrophotography related!

Yeah, the autocomplete and suggestions are pretty cool.
I've found two not so nice quirks that they will hopefully fix soon. The first is that it can get stuck in minimized mode. But then you can just click on the taskbar icon and press enter to have it open again. The second is that the right click context menu is missing the source control options when working with json files.

Why would you call a programming language overblown?
It's Python.

Monngolian folk metal featuring traditional instruments and throat singing. My new favourite workout music: I started cycling and inadvertently conquered the neighborhood. Whoops.

Will listen, I like all kind of folk / folk metal music. My first encounter with folk was with Garmarna...
