And I thought this was only a third-world occurrence. Was there a weather issue?

i have to buy a used midi controller for $100 - a miniature model of the $600 one I already have.
I can't buy a comparable new one for $100 because all the new ones are USB only.
How the heck do musicians use their classic synths with these new devices?
USB doesn't really let you do MIDI-thru, or a midi intercept like my prang box needs to.
It's mostly only good for hooking stuff into a PC or laptop.
*sigh*

curious to ask: any specific to share about this midi controller ?
where to buy this item?

If you're talking about the one I have to hunt for used, I've only found one so far, and it's mine. I'll let you know after I buy it.
Sorry, I'm nice - but not that nice.

Hmmm, am I misunderstanding something?
Googling midi usb-to-DIN brings up an abundance of products such as this.
[EDIT:] And do intercept on the USB side?

No. It doesn't work like that.
The problem is not physically connecting MIDI to USB
The problem is USB works different than MIDI
There no way to pass a MIDI connection through a device for intercept using USB because USB simply does not work that way.
In order to do it I'd need to make my gadget emulate a PC and put a USB-A port on one end of it, making that a USB-OTG host.

Sorry, I just realized my previous response may have read as hostile. I didn't intend that. I'm just frustrated that they didn't carry this basic functionality forward. It's more a USB limitation but still.

I do not search backward so the list still empty - but it is decided...
(what not decided yet is where to start my global tour - as one, who barely leaves the house and the forest it would be an other interesting challenge)
